I could probably get away with it. I'm willing to try just about anything at this point, lol. The time crunch is real and wop needs a major reality check asap. Thanks!

Before you try this, how about you try something a little less aggressive. If the kid is intelligent and slightly autistic, you'd probably get way more cooperation by treating him like an adult for 2 minutes after a class to explain that he can't be interrupting the class. It's fine for him to work ahead, and it's great if he helps out his classmates (helping someone else learn is the best way to learn yourself), but interrupting the class takes away time from everyone else.
I'm a little disappointed at the vigorous advocacy for shaming a kid into obedience. It sounds like this is a kid who, right now, likes math and finds it interesting. If you use the tactics that Sath is advocating for, you risk fucking that up. Do you really want that on your conscience?
As a last little comment, I didn't see it mentioned explicitly, but you might want to dig into the kid's grades a little more. The fact that he has an F overall isn't really relevant depending on the grading system. If he's getting answers right 90% of the time or more, clearly his insistence that he knows what he's doing is merited. He certainly wouldn't be the first person in the world to fail a class for not doing homework even though he got A's on tests and quizzes. I've done the very same thing (in college, no less).
I really wouldn't be posting on the interwebs if I hadn't tried these and other approaches already, lol. I know teachers aren't generally known for their competence, but come on. If you student taught, you should also know that information regarding students and their grades is like top secret NSA level stuff and I'm going to be leaving a ton of things out when I post to prevent possible identification of anyone involved.
Wop's primary interest is in getting through the day so wop can go home and play (insert addictive MMO here). Wop might be reasonably intelligent at wop's core, but a crippling lack of motivation and respect for either the teacher or wop's classmates has put wop in a position where any failure on wop's part is attributed by wop to a lack of trying rather than a lack of knowing. Which is bullshit. Wop isn't failing because wop isn't turning in homework. Wop is failing because wop doesn't understand algebra and until wop acknowledges that (which would require paying attention when I'm talking to wop and realizing that I'm saying something different than wop is thinking), I can't do much for wop.
Given how prevalent this sort of attitude is on the internet (by that I mean folks who insist they'd be geniuses if they tried but are just too lazy or interested in other things), and how many of us were equally addicted to vidya in our youth (sometimes at the expense of other things), this seemed an apt place to garner some insight into what might reach this kid. Shame - that is, pointing out the gaps in wop's knowledge in a setting where wop can't ignore me - is not a bad idea, as it forces wop to confront wop's deficiencies in the subject matter. It is very possible to do this without completely traumatizing wop. I promise I'm not actually going to throw a water bottle at wop - at least one with water still in it.
If you've tried other options, then by all means, go that route. I had originally gotten the impression that you were looking for a quick solution because of the pressure of the situation, and thus hadn't tried much yet. My bad.
I mean, if I had the time, I'd focus on building a stronger relationship with the kid so he cares about what I have to say. That is by far the best solution, imo. But I am in a time crunch, so I do need an approach that will bring him back to reality quickly, as what I have tried so far hasn't been very effective. I don't need to be cruel about it, though.
Me and the wife are both sick with the flu. So right now it's a game of each asking for something and waiting till one of us wants it more, then whoever gets out of bed first does what the other wants. So far. I'm losing the most times.
why don't you just wait until the end of class to hand out homework? he can't do it if he doesn't have it.
Not sure what state he's in, but here you have to have all of your shit posted on your board for the day. Agenda, homework, standards, etc. Some schools even require you to post your lesson plans, including homework, on the school's online system. He might not be able to do that. Though that seems like a pretty simple solution.
I'm confused to why wop is even bothering to do the work let alone do it ahead and ask questions if he's just going to turn in hot garbage and still fail. If I'm going to actually put out effort I'm going to make sure I do at least decently. If I'm fine with failing why even bother just read a book, take a nap, whatever. Are we sure wop doesn't actually know what's going on and this isn't an elaborate troll?
I'm sure you have already tried this but it sounds like lumping his ass in detention would work. I mean if his reasoning for doing homework in class is so that he play more video games afterschool, depriving him of the time gained may work? Or can't you have forced extra lessons for people who are failing?
I assume talking to his parents has already been tried without working, right? Maybe they can force him into paying attention more in class to gain access to whatever the fuck he's interested in out of school. I know my dad would have flipped if I was ever in wop's situation/failiing and would 100% have taken away my computer games or whatever until I fixed it.
Grandfather had open-heart surgery yesterday, everything went fine but his heart stopped beating about 7-8 hours later. They were able to get it going again with cpr, and get him into stable condition about 11pm last night.
My lymph nodes have been swollen for a few days now. Pretty sore. I went to the doctor and they did a lot of tests. Found nothing/everything was negative. Tested for strep, took my blood to check white blood cells, got an ultrasound, and got antibiotics. I'm not sick. I feel perfectly fine. why you swollen lymph nodes. My nodes haven't been this swollen even when I am sick. The lump is pretty big. Just a freak thing... I guess.
