Keto can spike your cholesterol so be careful if you believe that or see a doctor because he'll yell at you about it but then provide no proof as to why.
You can totally eat keto and not go overboard though.
Since we are on the subject since both she and the keto guide have protein being largely converted to glucose but all the reading I've done on it shows protein having little to no effect on blood sugar. So where is this coming from? Is it like specific response to being on a keto diet or something? Any links to that specifically?
Reddit has a lot of good information on it. Essentially you are limiting yourself to a net of 20-40g of carbs daily. Since you are doing this, you are taking in more fat but since there is not much in the way of carbs for your body to break down, your body starts converting fat to make up for it. The only shitty part about it is you can feel wonky the first few days as your body adjusts, but holy shit were the pounds melting off. We had to stop due to budget reasons, but I can't wait to get back on it as I felt better during that 3 months of Keto, then I have in a long long time.
I'm insulin resistant due to have PCOS ( female disease) and was pre diabetic at one point, low carb is the only thing that keeps things in check for me. My body like many does not equate "natural" sugar from fruits for example any different than cane sugar. Keto is but just one variant of low carb but it doesn't hurt to try different things or eliminating things from the diet.
Milk and dairy is a huge sugar culprit that is often overlooked. My body processes butter fine but too much milk or dairy ( sour cream, cottage cheese, most cheese) and I've seen it spike. Sugar is added to so many foods now it's insane apart from the obvious. Watching Fed Up on Netflix was an eye opener too.
Oh I get that and read the reddit and been researching it off and on for the last couple of years while I maintain a diet along similar lines (more like 30-60g net carbs). My question was about protein and blood sugar though
As far as budget... there are plenty of really cheap proteins/fats you can get. My "daily" food budget has actually gone down a bit (part of that is reduced calorie though) though that basically just makes up for the cheat days I have now lol.
Yeah I'm a dairy junky. Though I get around it a bit by using the variants of dairy that have most of the sugars removed. Heavy cream is amazing. Butter is almost pure fat so that's probably why it's so easy. Cottage cheese still has most of the milk sugars. But sour cream is kind of surprising since what makes it "sour" is the fermentation of the lactose not to mention they use cream which already is higher on fat and lower on lactose. Were you using fat free kinds as normal ones are supposed to only be like 5% carbs. Cheese is also confusing as most tends to be very low carb too
But what can she eat to kick start her metabolism
I drink 4 liters of 3% milk each day. It gets costly
I drink 0 liters of any milk ever.
Gross.
I don't know how homie here drinks a fucking gallon a day.
That's 2400 kcals of just milk. Every day.
Unless he's doing lolGOMAD or some shit.
Caused by drinking a gallon of milk a day?
