I'm also stuck until at least June as workmans comp is still in settlement .

Basically I'm noticing a distinct lack of accountability , due to my modified work I'm so fucking bored doing the same damn thing over and over .

I also try to help in other areas as able as limited as it is to try and help CSI scores/help with emails and no one ever responds or reads their damn emails. Then three days later it's all " well I didn't see it" it's not fucking difficult . I've considered leaving but with my now permanently disabled self finding anyone to accommodate me at all is going to be hell and we just can't afford it.

I couldn't go to my father's funeral and be with family when he died. I was still in the hospital with my newborn son. It kills me to this day I couldn't be there with everyone. With that being said, considering I had a reason, you may have one, too.

I got over being sick about two weeks ago only for it to come back again and I'm fucking annoyed as shit because it's super rare that I get sick and now twice in less than a month? Unacceptable, immune system.

The fridge in my apartment broke some time yesterday evening. It's a shitty half-sized one because not much else fits in my shitty, tiny kitchen.

Every spring/summer it starts making horrible noise as the humidity (I guess) starts getting higher and ice gets stuck in the compressor or something. Anyway, basically a layer of ice forms around whatever motor it's got in the back of the freezer (yes, it's in the freezer under a plastic layer) and it makes horrible grinding noises. Usually what I do is turn it off and smack the bottom of the freezer to break up the ice and let it sit for a bit to melt.

I guess when I was at work or picking up my wife or something it started acting up and finally went. I didn't notice until the evening when I went to get some ice cream and it was melted to a puddle. Had to run to the store to get some ice and pack some of the more important things in a cooler.

I guess there may be a win if the landlord decides to not be a cheap fuck and get a decent fridge in there, though it a full size won't fit still. At least he can get some not 10 year old piece of crap I'd hope.

Tell me where else in NYC you can get a two bedroom, 1.5 bath apartment with a finished basement, full size washer and dryer, yard, deck, and driveway for $2000/month and I'll move.

It's the fucking weirdest. The fridge, baseboard heating, and other appliances are probably all 15+ years old, but the building itself was constructed around 8-10 years ago.

On the plus side, it's a nice neighborhood, we've got a lot of space, and we have a yard. Could even have a kid and stay in this apartment if we wanted since we have the second bedroom and the elementary school 4 blocks from us is well rated as far as public schools go.

Of course if we somehow managed to make millions we could send the kid to Riverdale Day School (lolno).

What's it cost to buy a place in NYC? I imagine it's ridiculous. I live in the country basically (Lancaster, PA) and my mortgage is $1200 a month including insurance, etc.

I haven't even looked because I don't plan on buying in NYC. I want to move to the mountains somewhere after I get my P.E. My wife wants to live in the Hudson Valley, Kingston/Poughkeepsie/New Paltz kind of area.

Honestly, either way is fine with me, but I want my own space.

My mortgage/taxes/insurance is $475/m for a 1250 sq ft 3 bed 1 1/2 bath in a decent neighborhood. Our apartment though is $705 for 1 bed 1 bath 750 sq ft in I'd call it a lower middle class area. The handle on the toilet broke yesterday so I went to replace it and the toilet is stamped as being from 1972...

This is so depressing as we just paid our rent after increase to $1940/mo for a 2 bedroom apartment with no AC and an old place. I love California but not its cost of living.

My wife sent me about 9 different houses in Vermont this morning. Estimated mortgage for any of them is around $800/month. I know living up there I would likely make less money as well, but god damn that's almost 1/3 our current rent.

Yeah our house is in Jackson which doesn't have much of anything. Price on the house was outstanding though so we bought. Moved to Clinton (metro D) for work. My friend rents the house for $750/m. We'll probably sell next summer though.

Northern Westchester and beyond are nice. That's where I grew up.

VT is pretty great, especially if you find those towns that have the gigabit local internet. I was looking into living in Burlington and doing the jetBlue commute down to JFK Monday to Friday.

i have found that the higher pay of working in cities like NY and DC does not fucking compare at all the the monumentally lower cost of living of places anywhere else. I'd rather make 10% less if it meant my cost of living went down 50+%
