Getting an email from my bank that says they're changing the way they do things, and that I'm going to be charged a fee if I don't maintain $300 in there at all times. Assholes, I live fucking paycheck to paycheck, that is literally an impossibility for me until I get an actual teaching job. Fucking dickwads, like I need another fucking thing to worry about.

This country sure enjoys exploiting the fuck out of people who don't have any money.

This may have been the push I need to switch to USAA for good and tell my other bank to fuck off permanently.

Think TD bank has no minimums or fees or at least it used to. I have bank of America and no fees or minimums as long as their is at least 1 direct deposit a month of 250$.

This is only for my savings account by the way, so I'm probably going to close my savings account and just maintain a checking account. I do still have the savings account with USAA at least, so that's better than nothing I guess. I wish I could keep at least $300 in savings at all times but I'm not that financially stable right now, and likely won't be until I get a teaching job in the fall.

My savings is free so long as I auto transfer 50 bucks to it every two weeks. Since I dump my rent and car payment every month into savings till it's time to put it back into checking to pay out, it's already covered.

Only minimum I can think of is they've told me they'd like me to keep $5 in savings though they phrased it more of as a recommendation and that keeping more was good since it acts as an overdraft protection. Navy Federal has been great to me as long as I don't want to actual go into a branch and talk to someone lol

Can you look into a credit union ? Unfortunately these added fees and terms are becoming more and more common and can be extremely frustrating. I feel for you because we used to have separate accounts due to my poor credit and choices years ago but they tacked on so many fees we eventually merged accounts to avoid that bullshit. But credit unions are much better. They should have an education one you can access.

I have to be actually employed as an educator first. But I think I'm just gonna stick with USAA. It sucks that they don't have any branches I can go to if I need to but that's just the way it is.

Seriously. You know that whole "vote with your wallet" shit people spout? It's true. I haven't been to a Wal Mart in 3+ years. Or a Chik Fil A. Like, I know it's "simple and stupid" but it's true. Take your money and business to companies that deserve it and that definitely means to a credit union.

Currently trapped in the apartment due to flooding (apartment and car are well above the water), and the TV went out. On top of that I skipped the grocery store yesterday so I'm down to bare bones for food. :/
