I came out of the job to a see a sea of red shirts walking through the parking lot. Apparently a bomb threat was made and they evacuated the Target across the way. Police and Fire were taping off the parking lot.

I needed to get some ant traps... That'll have to wait until tomorrow. Unless the shit goes boom, in which case the problem has turned Third World.

After 4 weeks of working like a normal human being, just found out I'm going back to night shifts because I'm one of the few experienced agents that can be trusted with that time slot. I love DC, I love VA, and I love my new home, but I really REALLY hate my fucking job. My previous assignment in KY/TN was awesome, the location just sucked ass.

Night shift, where everyone who knows you knows you work at night and sleep in the daytime but still call/come over during your sleeping hours anyway because they forgot you worked last night.
If I could get the workload of nights without the early A.M. wake up times I'd move to the more normal working hours of dayshift.
It sounded like a tornado came through around 5am this morning, i was just getting to sleep in the middle of the storm, and i get woken up around 10 to workers outside shredding fallen trees up. Why can I sleep through the constant flashing and booms of a thunderstorm, but the burrrr of slicing trees to nothingness wakes me up i just don't get it. Now i'm getting tired and I have to leave for work again in a few minutes.

Worked nights for 9 years straight, if my work every tried to put me back on it I'd quit my job. Shift is a life killer in so many ways, it'd be ok on a short term temporary basis but any extended time it's just horrible.

Yeah night shift really blows. I could easily go back to my old job on a temporary basis until I can get a teaching job but there's no fucking way I would ever want to work nights again.

I absolutely love night shift but in my career it's a bit different. Play video games, sleep, movies... It's awesome. Only reason I don't anymore is because the woman and I get more time together if we both do days.

I worked nights for a little more than 3 years, I pretty much let my social life fade into obscurity and just played FFXI while most were at work during the week. I was Kitchen Manager and had weekends off which was the only saving grace. Now I'm in a much better position but still (tomorrow in fact) have to work some 3am and 5am starts. I push hard off 2-4 hrs a sleep on those days...

I loved later shifts. As long as I can get home by 10amish it actually improves my sleep schedule. So do a lot better on those then day shifts... but rotating shifts every week oh man that is killer.

My wife currently works 7pm-7:30am. She works only 36 hours a week so it's not too bad on us. But...I just started a new job and my shifts will be around 11am-9:30pm. Not sure how to make it work other than her going "1st shift" working 7am-7:30pm.

I actually sought out an overnight shift when I worked at target. I stayed up until 4am anyway, so working until 6 was not a hard adjustment.

Getting killed this weekend though. 5-2am Friday and Saturday, with an 8am employee meeting on Saturday. I only half-jokingly suggested we have it at 1-2am, but my boss said "No, that wouldn't be fair to the day people. They sleep at that time." I wonder when he thinks us 5pm-close people sleep then.

I think I would do well in a night shift job; I easily stay up until 4-5am anyway even on a workday and I only force myself to sleep because I know I got work in the morning. I guess the only thing holding me back would be that I live in a flat and therefore would be subjected to day noise from surroundings; if I had my own isolated home I think it would be brilliant. I love night times and night [work] life. In London you see a lot of people working on the train tracks for example, doing maintenance and stuff. Everything is a lot more mysterious. It just feels so good. And seeing the city at night is very nice... it's one of the primary reasons I play GTA5... to drive around at night lol

I hated this shit so much. "Let's have a meeting at 11 AM." Bitch, I used to get off at 5. That was literally right in the middle of my sleep.

Rotating shifts should be illegal. It's not natural or healthy to wake up and go to sleep (or not sleep, most likely) at completely different hours every single day. Especially for some shitty minimum wage job, you'd just be trading away your health for a pittance for a corporation who doesn't even want to pay for your healthcare

I agree. When I had to do that I was so sick all of the time. It really does a number on your system to be switching like that. There were times when I'd have only 8 hours between shifts. It took me about an hour to get home and an hour to get back, so we're down to six hours. Factor in things like showering, eating, and just decompressing after a long day, and I was lucky to get four hours of sleep. And be a productive employee? What killed me is that I worked in dispatch, where a mistake or a delayed reaction on certain things could have cost someone their life. When I tried to argue this point to management, they looked at me like I had two heads. Looking back, I can't believe I worked at that place as long as I did.

Got a call from my older brother last night, who I haven't spoken to in probably two or three years. His life situation is way fucked up and while he didn't call me to ask for money, he made it pretty clear the bulk of his problems came from not having money. It's all stupid family drama involving both of my siblings and my parents and I spent all night having weird dreams about constantly fighting with all of them. I woke up feeling completely emotionally drained and just pretty miserable, plus my coworker overbooked our schedule for today so I have to handle far more than I should alone because whoops, she can't stay this afternoon so I'm doing it solo.

I'm equally pissed that people I don't see and aren't that integral to my life (nor have they been for almost a decade) have this much ability to tank my mood and demeanor.

Just found out the cost of applying for my FL teaching certificate. I'm fucking annoyed. This is the kind of shit that should be included in tuition and we should have assistance from the college with it (if needed). In just fees, I've paid something like $800 to be an educator in the state of Florida, and I sadly do not think that I'm even done yet.

Also, I may be ornery because I'm broke and I really can't afford to apply for it right now but I also really need it.

Date day with gf. Driving downtown on a nice sunny day. Phone rings and I pick up on Bluetooth. It's Spence diamonds. "hey mr. Wong are you still interested in the engagement ring, this is spence diamonds."

My gf hears it all. I say no and hang up. Sent them an angry email and they say they will take me off there call list.
