I hope they catch on and start paying me.
With my post history we should also consider a tech thread: Just get Sennheisers.

So a customer schedules us to come out tomorrow. Today they start getting ready pulling stuff out seeing how much they really have which is good a lot are totally unprepared and expect us to wait while they sort what actually needs to get done.
However they pulled it out somewhere they can't leave it overnight and decided they don't feel like putting it back till tomorrow. So without even talking to us they start making calls to our competitors to come out for same day service. Of course everyone tells them fuck no this isn't that kind of business plus most of our competitors basically wont do anything unless it's weeks in advance. So they go thru a company that doesn't do the work it just basically takes online traffic and directs it to the companies that actually do the stuff while taking a nice cut off the top. Which is how we found out about it because they contacted us with a "new" customer lead and a bill for $50 for "finding" us a customer. And since the reason we didn't put them on for today is because we had so much other stuff going on so it's a let's hurry up and do it after hours when they figured out they had about triple then initially quoted
reason #8429 I'm in school even though I work full-time: people who literally cannot read
"oh there's a second page to this report? I didn't even look! haha, nevermind, sorry to bother you!"
ayn rand, you were right. America's insistence on mediocrity as a core value has got us fucked.
I was helping a labmate solder a power cord onto a device today and they plugged it in while I was soldering. It (wall socket) grounded out through the soldering station with enough vigor to bend the tip.
Inherent random win is that none of the current went through me and I'm fine. Double random win, I took the soldering station home with me and am going to pay $85 to trade it in for a newer one (worth ~$300), which I will then keep.
I hope you told your labmate what a dumbass they were
The importance of Lock Out/Tag Out! When we work on things at work power sources and pneumatic valves are locked out.
Fail in that same vain the other day. Had a guy working on a saw(3 foot blade) new guy was standing by the power box so he was asked to lock it out. Procedure for a massive lock out it one lock on the power and the key is put in a box that everyone working on the item puts their own lock on the box until they complete their task. For this saw it just takes one operator locking out because the process of any work takes like 5 minutes. After the newbie puts the lock on I happened to notice out of my peripheral that it is swinging from the handle and not actually locking out the power leaving his teammate with his abdomen over a live saw blade. Always double checking that jackwagon from now on.
Fifteen minutes before dinner, sitting on a bench as I just finished a smoke and a damn bird decided to shit on me.
Comcast is such complete and utter trash.
I have literally one assignment (a 10 min talk) and one test (for the same class) left in my last semester in grad school. I have 6 slides out of 9-10 done for the talk as of 9pm. All I need to do is just put some shit down that makes SOME sense and I'm home free - what do I do? I go the fuck out drinking with 2 other PhD students who are like 99.9% done and some fucking random-ass southern-ass hoes.
I managed to avoid the hoepocalypse but now it's 2am and I still have to finish my presentation.
Help me adderall, you're my only hope.
Edit: 3 hours of sleep followed by some broad generalizations attached to recent paper citations + pictures of a few simulations and that's what I'm calling good enough.
Also slight edit so I don't get kicked in the balls.
Put this on FB but it's def fwp
Get home from vacation and the roommates have fixed the window alarm (yay) but neglected to send me a message letting me know or the code. Came home to am armed house and the shit goes off.
I had also asked them to have the cleaning crew do my room floors if they came by while I was on vacation. That didn't get done. :/
Sent a pair of emails to my team lead and her boss a few weeks ago asking for official verbiage regarding a new project for when people inevitably email me asking about it, specifically asking for what I'm not supposed to share. They all went unanswered. This morning someone asked me about the project, I responded with some barebones stuff, and my team lead immediately jumps on me asking who gave me permission to spread that information.
I am so done with this week.
Sitting in hospice whole astylla and her sister spend as much time with their father as they can as it sounds like he won't make it through the weekend. Shit sucks
That definitely sucks. I know you're nearby - let me know if there's anything I can do.
I now know what she went through when my nana suffered a stroke and passed away and she could only sit back and watch us grieve.
We actually went to the military bar he was a member of as he was air force and had a drink before rushing back as the priest arrived to perform last rites and sacrament.
I am sorry to hear that guys. Hugs.
