Random Fail: First World Problems

The only reason I get bent out of shape over Memorial Day is when someone thanks me for my service today. Like yes I understand the sentiment behind it, but I didn't give my life, other people did. My day is in November. Like I don't get all stupid about it, I just correct them and move about my day, but that one just kind of irks me a teeny bit.

In b4 "omg we knew Aks would be triggered by this" when that's not what I said at all.

you have to ask yourself, in this and similar scenarios, is this really worth getting upset/offended/irked over? in this case, the average joe thinks of memorial day as "generic military-related holiday" and, in trying to be nice, thanks you for serving. you are choosing to be irked by a technicality in who exactly the holiday is for, rather than appreciating someone trying to be nice and appreciative

"thanks", and move on with your day

Because people who are otherwise ignorant, will probably remain ignorant, and your decision to "inform them" may probably just come off as you being irritable
other than actually appreciating their (otherwise misguided) gesture and just continuing with your day.
