Yeah, I know it's a piece of crap. Me and my wife both drive old banged up cars despite being able to afford a lot better. She drives a 2000 Civic because of sentimental attachment. I drive the Sunfire because A. I drive like a lunatic and B. It was something to drive whilst I got used to driving on the opposite side of the road.
It wasn't supposed to last but it has. And everything that broke on it has been a cheap fix that doesn't warrant ditching it.
I'll probably get rid in 6-12 months as I'm sure it won't deal with the way lengthier commute for long after I move in a few weeks.
I know there's a simple test you can do on a battery to tell if it's good or not. Just need a volt reader to do it, and it'll let you know if any of the cells in the battery are dead(I think there's generally 6 cells in your average car battery), even if 1 is dead you should replace your battery.
1999 red sunfire was my first car.
Huge mistake but still totes kawaii. (I was an idiot and should have went with the saturn that had automatic doors/windows and wasn't classified as a sports car.) But hey, that's what happens when you buy a privileged brat her first car. My parents were too good to me, I realize that now.
$416 for alternator + belt + oil change but not battery.
And yeah there wasn't much forethought when I bought it. It was basically because I had the cash on me and it didn't need any work so thought may as well. It is gold with tan interior and slightly rusty, it looks hideous.
As soon as something major goes on it I'll scrap it.
It's still their fault, eh?! #neverchange
Replacing an alternator isn't exactly rocket surgery. Refurbished alternators run about $70 for your car (new=~$170), but paying someone to replace it is substantially more and you probably don't know whether you're getting a refurb or not.
$416 for alternator ($70) and belt ($20?) and they probably sell your old alternator or rebuild it themselves ($-35?) means they make $350 for work that can be explained in a 6 minute youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiJoV5SsrYs
Hungry as shit. Didn't get time to eat breakfast. Go to Dental a half hour before lunch. Get told after I'm done that I can't eat for the next two hours and that I can only eat soft foods for the rest of the day.
One of those days I wanna whine and complain like a 3 year old.
Ice cream the rest of the day. Random Win discussion is relevant.
Go get mint ice cream or gelato and smile for the rest of the day.
If you don't like mint ice cream than there's no loss on my end. Go burn in hell.
Mint ice cream for life.

We had a good run.
Why the fuck do you haters hate mint?
It's delicious.
Because rocky road exists
