Random Fail: First World Problems

Seriously this was work today but thankfully my office was ice cold.

But it's 8pm and still 80 degrees and no AC ughhhh.

Same here except I do have an AC unit but it's one of those built into the wall things... so it's pretty shitty and it's on the front of my house which is a double fail. First fail being that it's fan isn't anywhere near even to push the cool (it doesn't get cold even if I set it to like 50) air to the bedroom at all and 2nd being that's the side of the house with whatever is fucking with my allergies during the night... so it's a choice of getting super hot (this apartment complex really holds in the heat like nobodies business so it might be a little below 80 outside but walls and roof and such still radiate enough heat to keep the house at 90 or so unless I'm cooling it.), running up my electric bill to still be fairly miserable, or open a front window which should cool things down decently too but be even worse on my allergies than running the AC. Fuck it maybe I'll go for a walk... 80ish so bad when outside and not in direct sunlight

Our apartment is decently insulated but yeah being on the 2nd and top floor has its disadvantages in summer. Truthfully it's usually a handful of days that's stupid unbearable as we get the bay breeze up in the hills but still not my type of weather.

I've learned a towel soaked in ice cold water with a fan blowing over me is the single way I can sleep in heat. Working tomorrow in an air conditioned office had its advantages.

I had one of those wall unit ACs in my house growing up. I've been living 20+ years with central heat & air now, but there's still something nostalgic about the old wall units for me. I'm not sure if it was the humming of the machine (I still to this day prefer some white noise when falling asleep), or the memories of playing outside on a hot day and running in to stand in front of the vent going full blast with cold air, or even that distinct smell at my aunt's house. She had a wall AC unit and was a huge smoker so the whole house took on a menthol aroma. I dunno, man. Memories are weird.

So online it shows the big theater in town is playing winter soldier and days of future past. Turns out they are really playing civil war and apocalypse but you wouldn't know looking it up and even if you did and thought to buy a ticket online they aren't accepting them because it says the other. So pop star it is lol. Oh well will help me get thru that weird transition of part of the night where it's still hot but can't run AC anymore.

Edit: also selling like $350 worth of weightlifting equipment (plates, dumbbells, etc) for like $150 and having a hard time even getting that much. Selling stuff locally is a pain in the cock. Maybe once. Typically county HR doesn't notify us until the night before when it's a temporary employee.

I'm now sitting on hold with the previous county agency she worked for as they used the same exact e-mail scheme as we do and it's fucking up her new account. 10 minutes and counting and i can't leave a voicemail as their IT department only checks the voicemail first thing in the morning as per their hold message.....

For some reason they started talking about ghosts and I don't know if my boss and coworker are blowing smoke because they want money from the client or they actually believe this, but they are all in agreement now that ghosts are 100% real and certain places are haunted. I like ghost stories and things, and both my father in law and grandmother in law swear they have seen a ghost in their farmhouse. A woman who only goes through the old parts of the house, ignoring the new walls that were built over the years. My wife has also said she's heard weird noises and things, but attributes it more to wild animals (there used to be a bat in her closet). We also have a friend who claims to have seen a banshee and another that was in the catacombs in Edinburgh and was poked in the ribs as the only person in the room with his back to a wall facing the entrance of the room.

Do I think they're real? Not really, but it's fun to believe they are.

Stories are fun, for sure. I've got a couple of weird stories but I can't really claim they're outright ghost stories or anything. It makes for fun what-if thoughts though.

Son is insisting on a particular pair of sandals sold at Target, but somehow not Amazon. They are SW sandals, so I was all "Fuck ya!"

But the website claims they have one left in his size, but when I went there they couldn't find it in the front or back.

Site still says they have one, but my only option is to do a store pick up with that one or have them shipped for $4 extra.

Gonna order the pick up at store to see what happens. Maybe they'll get more from the warehouse? idk
