Random Fail: First World Problems

Fucking urgent care. Pulled what felt like a possible groin/muscle strain sometime Sunday night. Monday walking was difficult on left leg and even fell gently when my leg gave out.

Went to work and by Tuesday afternoon I'm limping in moderate pain. Advice nurse advises urgent care which blows it off as weight related/ hip bursitis which I've known about. Asked about treatment like ice therapy , etc, and just again told to lose weight. Okay thanks..

Yesterday wake up and couldn't even bear weight for most the day. Just rested which helped but then going downstairs at work today hurts like hell. Got in for appointment and yup have a severe muscle strain not even related to bursitis, fuck.

So rest and time off work until Tuesday , gave me a Toradol injection to help , and got muscle relaxers and on continued anti inflammatory.

Out of sick time due to my body earlier this year trying to kill me for female issues , one vacation day left I can use and supposed to have a vacation next week. FML.

Thank you for this, pretty much sums up how I feel too. A friend's parents home burned down a few months ago so yeah we tossed a small amount but that's a rare case.

FML. My manager keeps asking me to delegate simple tasks to this one employee. One of them is checking the toner levels of our copiers, as well as letting me or the head receptionist know if we are down to only one of a cartridge or waste bin. I just got asked to change the waste bin of our most commonly used copier and guess what we are out of. The damn waste toner box. So now I had to place an order for one (and by coincidence we were down to only one cyan cartridge as well) and have our most common copier out of use for a fucking week as they ship UPS ground and our county contract with them doesn't allow for overnight shipping.

What? Seriously... what? We get that shit next day. Is this even possible? I don't understand. What fucking contract did they get where you won't get toner/waste boxes the next day? This doesn't make sense. The contract must have been written in 1860 when we still used the pony express.

Cheap county , hippie organization , you get the idea. It's ridiculous to me and it's not because he's my husband , it's because this is fucking stupid.

Yeah but even ups ground shouldn't take a week. And shit I'm sure there is some localish company that would do it cheap to and get there fast by virtue of being close.

Fucking county with it's new contract. Our old copiers which were off contract (we got them before the county re-negotiated it's contract with Konica) got us Fed Ex so we got shit in 2-3 days. Now it's UPS ground and the average has been 5-7 business days. And we can only order 1 each at a time, every 2 weeks. I had to fudge shit when we first got the new copiers just so I can have a stock of stuff.

Some people man. Coworker complains it's too hot I say it's only 70 something he checks the thermostat and counters with it's 78 and when I say yeah 70 something. So does the whole I'll say you are right with implying you are wrong and turns on the AC... with the doors to outside open.

I'll never understand how some people get their drivers license. This morning when I got to work, someone intentionally drove the wrong way into the parking garage (one lane goes in, the other lane is for exiting the structure, it's not wide enough for a car to pass) and a person pulling out of the garage as she's waiting to pull in tells her it's the wrong way and she responds back "I know it's the wrong way" as she speeds in.

Then leaving for lunch, someone decided they couldn't wait the whole 2 seconds for the parking gate bar to rise so they drove through the entrance lane which didn't have the bar lowered yet for the day.

Have a coworker who has a whole mess of issues and that I may have already complained about a bunch in previous FWP posts and pretty much dubbed her snowflake. Hot as hell outside. Entire lab comes to a consensus to blast the AC. Stick thin snowflake turns up the thermostat which turns on the heat until it reaches that temperature. We have said repeatedly that if anyone is cold, wear layers so us thicker individuals/people who appreciate AC on a 100°F+ day can get the free recirculated air. Snowflake wears a thin spaghetti strap undershirt + Orange/maroon wife beater. Makes everyone else feel miserable briefly so she can make a fashion statement while staying warm. It's a war over the thermostat most of the time. Her vs the entire lab.

Thermostat wars in the office are fucking hilarious because of how big a deal people make it. I never get why people bother complaining about it. People who complain about like high 60's being too cold, bitch that's shorts and t-shirts weather where I come from. Then others who complain it's too hot at like 73 whilst I go sit out on my lunch at like 90-100+ degrees. Get a fucking grip people, nobody is going to die from the thermostat being anywhere in the range of 60 to 80. Just deal with it.

One of the only positives that came from the death of my grandfather was the exquisite satisfaction that our entire family felt in going to his house afterwards and turning the A/C down to 65. He was a notorious hard 89 degrees in his house. In south Georgia. Ugh.

Doesn't bother me at all. The AC in my house has been busted for nearly 2 months and only circulates one floor so I'm sure it's regularly way in excess of 80 in my living room given I live in Florida. Not bothered to have them repair it since I'm moving house next week. I know in our last place we just left it at 78 too.

I'd rather be too hot than too cold if I had a choice but the lower end doesn't bother me either. My house in England was fucking freezing due to a bad heating system and shitty insulation (old farmhouse type thing). So even really low ends of the thermostat are nothing compared to that house in the winter.

I'm generally always cold but I've stopped complaining about it and just started wearing sweaters and hoodies to work year round. I'll typically wear a tank top to drive in and pull my sweater on right before heading into the building. Sometimes I'm still cold even with the layers on and while I might comment about it, in most cases there's nothing I can do about the temperature anyway so I just try to distract myself and get through the day so I can go home to my comfortable apartment set at the exact temperature I prefer.

I figure when I pay their electric bill then I can decide what temperature it gets set at.

I believe they're cereal box prizes. I live in a small country town, barely any traffic on my way to and from work (in a tiny city) and I almost die once a day. The other day even, I was in the parking lot at work, just getting ready to pull out of my spot when a white SUV almost drives straight into my driver door (they must have been going 50+ and cut through several parking rows). He/she swerved off and slammed on their horn like I'd done something wrong.

People that bitch about being too cold are amazingly self-centered. I'd like them to experience the discomfort and embarrassment of sweating all over paperwork at work, while wearing shorts and a t-shirt, because some dickbag wants it to be 80 degrees inside. There's nothing you can do if you're that person. A person who's cold has multiple options to warm up. A person who's too hot can only take off so much clothing before they get a visit from HR.
