If the two people have been flirting then it can be fine; though it does fuck up the order. If it's just a girl in a group of friends that came over to drink and have fun, and you haven't had any hint of flirting or attraction from them it's mostly sad/creepy.

I understand the "creepy" response though, that was my first reaction as well. to me, if the girl actually wants to sit in your lap, she was already about it anyway so you aren't gaining anything. if she doesn't you just created a really creepy and uncomfortable situation for everyone.
