flipcup sounds like it's probably the same as tippycup. two teams in a line, first person drinks their shot from a solo cup, then sets the cup on the edge of the table and flips it until it lands upside down, when the next person repeats the process. first team to finish wins.

with hammershlagen, we always play with a big riveting hammer or something like it (large head, one side flat, other tapered to a blunt point) and then use the tapered side. makes it harder. if someone is doing particularly poorly they can flip the hammer to use the flat side, but it's kinda like using the bumpers in bowling.

my group has always used water for beer pong, and we're pretty lax about making people drink. more about winning than getting drunk, since we often have mixed company (meaning some are sober and some not). my nephews' groups use beer, apparently. i disapprove, partly because it's gross and partly because drunks are drunks and while i was there they wasted at least a gallon of beer spilling cups.


Beer Smash is also fun. You play Smash Bros, loser hands off, winner takes a drink.

beer darts. everyone sit in a circle on the lawn in your camping chairs. put your beer down in front of you. first person throws a dart at someone else's beer (can't be the person on either side of you, obvs) and if you hit it they have to drink up to that line. then they get to throw the dart and so on and so forth.


and yes, laughing at people who get a dart to the leg is part of the fun! obviously your basic darts aren't sharp enough to do any serious damage so it's not as bad as it sounds.

That is what kings is which started this whole drinking game conversation. Different rules for different cards depending on who you play with but the basic principle is the same.

The only time I've ever gotten blackout drunk was playing shot/death in DOTA, against the hardest difficulty AI. I ended up doing like 17 shots in an hour and a half. If I wasn't fat, I might have died, lol.

So I'm registering for my Professional Engineering license through New York State. All the forms and certifications have to go to the state where they review all of it for eligibility. Afterwards, you register online for the exam if they deem you eligible.

Apparently, there are two different "deadlines" that are not coordinated at all. One site tells you you're not able to submit registration until after June 20, 2016. Another page tells you everything has to be in by May 1, 2016.

So today I go to finish my registration after my boss has reviewed and signed off on my experience and am told I've missed the deadline for the October exam (when I planned to take it). I asked them when the deadline was since we aren't able to start the process until June 20. I'm told that's just to register for the exam itself and everything had to be in by May 1st for October.

I'm so god damned pissed right now. Mostly at myself for not pushing my boss to get everything signed off sooner, but also at the state for having a shitty system.

EDIT: In fairness, I saw the June 20th date when I printed the forms off the registration site. The May 1st date is buried on some page on the state government's site.

After June 20th and by May 1st are such different things... it should be clearly fucking explained what the hell they're talking about.
