this. there's a lot of reasons people don't respond but few of them start with enthusiasm for the idea. and yeah, most people are like that cos they're dumb and think of ignoring you as somehow less rude than saying no.



glad it worked out. i try not to get worked up about that anymore; it's exhausting and a strain on otherwise decent friendships. just send out the invites, then day before if no one's responded say "kay well ive gotten no responses so eventthing is off. maybe another time!" or "kay well no responses so far but i'm going anyway, come out if you can." Much easier. doesn't help shit you need to reserve ahead of time, but effective for most junk.

your feedback is very much appreciated. for real. sometimes I feel like the only person who struggles with this, and clearly I'm not lol. I like your idea of just taking things a lot easier and not stressing over it (except when plans are necessary, like getting tickets for a show)


the one thing that's really stressing me here is that I'm supposed to go to Shangri-La (near you actually, not sure if you've heard of it) with some of those friends, and they're the same ones that are blowing me off the hardest. so I'm preparing myself to possibly rent a car instead, and let them figure their own shit out. I know people who know Wookie and I can get in for free regardless so it's not like I need them. would be weird camping by myself at a festival but I'm sure I'll meet people there.


also, I love the Zumbro - so much! - because it's gorgeous. but the length of that ride means it's better to come down and then camp, if you're from the cities. harder to do as a day trip when you're up here. definitely a favorite spot of mine though. those cliffs are beautiful.

haha we camped there exactly once. there was a very bad storm that night and several things happened: One friend's wife lost the key to his brand-new truck (literally drove it off the lot like a week ago) and a 'smith was hours away, so he had to break the motorized mechanism for the cab window to get in, where the other key was... the same friend and his wife didn't realize you needed to water-treat their giant tent, so the rain just went right through it and they got frustrated and left... another friend got so drunk he threw up multiple times... i discovered my cot doesn't fit in my tent... and everyone got thoroughly sunburned. was fun though.

also, and this might just be because of the crohn's, but i always have at least 3 plans for any given event. show up and participate, show up and observe, stay home and play vidya/read. that way it's not "welp guess i don't get to do anything" it's "welp guess i'm beating the shit out of fucking pocatello in civ"

planning things that require more forethought i tend to limit to the friends i have who are willing to plan. we talk shit out, figure out when works best for anyone who responds and then arrange shit and tell people "this is what's happening, if you can't make it that sucks."

Finished up my last report call of the night, getting changed in the locker room when the supervisor informs me of my car for the night shift.

I tell him I'm not working tonight, only to find out I agreed to work for a coworker a few weeks ago and forgot.

File a complaint. Say you were refused service because you brought your bike in the store and was told to lock it outside, but theres no locks. They'll probably send you 20-30 bucks worth of coupons to "keep you as a customer". Thats how the fast food service works sadly.

It's the best when you're an employee just following the rules and the manager goes over you to please the customer and make you look like an idiot, but thats how it is. I really can't stand when people look down their nose at those workers though, that 15 min wage can't come soon enough, those are people FFS.

Think I'm getting a corporate complaint from a moviegoer tonight. She wanted to jump to the front of the line (maybe 10 people) because she was disabled and didn't want anybody else sitting in "her" handicapped seat, and all the managers let her do it. I said I wasn't the other managers and seating is a first come, first serve basis, but I would ask people to move if all of the handicapped seating was taken. Which I knew it wouldn't be, because people prefer refunds over sitting on the floor seats instead of the stadium seats.

She then proceeds to tell me that in 2013, at my theatre, she was physically assaulted and spent a month in a wheelchair after somebody was asked to move for her and that security better keep an eye on her if somebody has to move. Next she goes off on how offended she was that an employee told her we have elevator to the second floor if she would like to sit in the back of the auditorium. She felt violated that an assumption was made that she couldn't walk up the stairs and the proper phrasing was to say there were alternate routes to the second floor. She didn't want to hear that we say elevator because the doors to the stairwell have a keycode to enter them at the bottom.

After the movie, she demanded an apology from me because I violated the ADA by not letting her cut in line, thereby not making reasonable accommodations as directed by the law. When I said I had nothing to apologize for, she told me I was old enough and should know better, and she feels sorry for me and my parents for the way I turned out. At least that gave me a reason to tell her I was done and walk away.

I dont think butting in line is considered a "reasonable accommodation" seeing as how that involves the other people in line having to wait longer, and they have every right to get upset and leave if you give preferential service to someone.

Sounds like this person just uses their disability as an excuse to be a pile of human waste.

I figured that out as soon as she started on "ADA says this, ADA says that". I almost buy the assault though, I mean I wanted to smack that bitch after about 3 minutes. Its like when people try to bring a dog into the theatre. I ask if it is a service dog. Period. No other questions about it at all. Some people say yes, while others start ranting that the law allows them to bring in an animal and they will call their lawyers because they know their rights, and I need to stop harassing them with all my questions. Type two is always the woman with resting bitch face who has little Fifi sticking her head out of a purse.
