I don't usually come here to rant and bitch, but good lord, i'm at my wits end! My mom has been "dating" someone she met on Christianmingle or w/e the fuck its called for the last year ever since my dad died and shes never actually "met" or "talked" to this person, only communicating with him through text messages (first red flag), he's apparently a "multi-millionaire Architect that is currently overseas working in Egypt", but of course we can't find any info whatsoever about him or his work online (second red flag) and he keeps asking my mom for money constantly, claiming that he can't transfer his millions of dollars from his bank account over to Egypt and he can't pay his workers and his son is sick and now dead and he can't even afford a loaf of bread (last major big fucking red flag).

So despite I and my relatives trying to explain to her that this guy is obviously a online predator milking her for money, she absolutely refuses to acknowledge it (at first), but now she acknowledges it, but claims "but what if he really is starving? He needs the money and he's so kind to me". So I found out recently (about 3-4 month ago), that not only has she given him roughly 20-40k since she met him, but she also gave him access to her bank acct, right around the time her acct got frozen and she was mysteriously 30k in the red when she had her life savings in it (bank reimbursed her luckily cause they thought she got hacked), she used roughly 1k I gave her for house repairs long ago (I'm a struggling college student too btw, so thats alot of money) to give to him.

Now I find out that since she's short on money for paying bills, she's now given him her Social Security and other personal info in order for him to pay off her bills (how the fuck can he do that if he has money issues!?) and she doesn't see anything wrong with that at all............. >< I want to help her but gdi shes digging her grave big time now and I have no clue what to do.

How old is your mother? You may seriously need to fight for power of attorney to gain control of her accounts. I would also recommend calling her bank and explaining to the manager that your mother is letting herself get scammed and sending all this money overseas and if there's a way you can have it auto blocked.

I'll probably do the latter, she's 61 years old and still sadly able to decide on her personal decisions.

I'd also file a police report on her behalf. And honestly if she's falling for a scam that's got her 20-40k in the red, that may be enough to at least take control of her accounts. Because it's going to wind up affecting you and siblings (if you have any) on top of extended family if she has to start borrowing to just pay rent/mortgage.

Yeah, you need power of attorney or she is quickly going to lose everything. She's been suckered in and at this point I highly doubt there is anything you can do to convince her that she is being conned. Do what you can as well to protect yourself and your identity--not saying she would, but I've read stories in the past of people being so far deep into these scams that they start opening up lines of credit and taking out loans in their children's names and social security numbers. I'm sorry this is happening to your family.

School starts on Wednesday and I still don't have a district log-in. I cannot see my classes, any student information, or anything else I need, and without that log-in the tech guy here at the school won't issue me a laptop. So basically I'm using my personal computer for the shit that I need, because our first day is pre-planned for us using a PowerPoint that I'll have to obtain somehow and that I'll have to connect my computer to the SMART Board. And taking attendance? Lol nope. Do it on paper. Except I can't find anyone who can hook me up with my class rosters so I can at least get names copied down into a hard copy book.

Meanwhile, personnel is taking literally forever at everything. I was offered this position on June 10th and just Thursday did I get fully processed in as a new hire, which still technically isn't done because I don't have my log-in. Tech support has been asking me to call back every day and they'll create it on the spot for me, but they've warned me I might have to go it old-school for the time being.

And all this because we decided to start school two weeks earlier than last year so that the first semester can end before winter break. Fun times.

Think I have a new worst customer. Guy calls in wants to come in today even though we aren't open. Convinces the boss to let him then guilts the boss into giving a 20% cause he's a poor non-profit sheltering homeless people... unless those people are men then nope.

So first fail is he schedules it for 1000. Shows up around 1130. I ask him how much he has he says 10 boxes we get out to his pickup and the back is stacked up higher than the roof of the truck. I'm like that's waaaaaaaaaaaay more than 10 and he looks me straight in the eye and says "yeah 10." Being we aren't open today we aren't really equipped to hold all that but I make room somehow.

We get done and I write up his bill and he tells me it's too much. Mind you our competitors would charge 3-8x as much before the discount I gave him. He's mad cause last time he was here with actual 10 boxes it was way less and the boss quoted him something less based on the fake amount he told the boss he had. Accuses me of charging him extra. So he's like hey cmon man I help women take off half on top of the 20% I already gave him. Fuck you I'm definitely more hard up for money than you and I'm not going to do something that could get me fired or $70 taken out of my paycheck. He's going on about how hard up they are and how the whole reason they are here is because they were spending $300 a month to store them. So you can't spend $140 one time to save $300 a month? Tell me another story grandapa. He keeps trying to pressure me and I'm like dude no I can't do that no means no. He finally understands and we go to pay and he only has a credit card which he knows we don't take <.<. But then he miraculously finds some cash but only $100 and tries to convince to just take that. So of course he suggests billing him which we normally don't do and I could tell he was going to use that opportunity to haggle the price down some more but I didn't feel like dealing with him anymore

Sorry but not having my class rosters is kind of a big deal. I'm happy here and a lot of the other faculty have been welcoming and helpful. My room is huge and I have a lot of technology at my fingertips (with the exception of my school-issued computer but that will come). I'm just frustrated with the personnel office at the district. If all of this was done through my school, it would have been done last week.

Yeah working with customers is always terrible. But it gets more so when your boss treats the customers like they are always right so the ones that were already going to be horrible now think they also have permission to walk all over you

ah, today is the day my brain decided to dissolve the boundary between paranoid insecurity and reality. this should be fun; haven't had one of these episodes in a while. hopefully I don't lose any friends this time! I think I'll try and leave my phone off today so I can put a buffer between my crazy and the world.

Doing my typical outbound follow up service calls and was leaving a message when I hear someone pick up so stop to address them.

Get called a "fucking whore" and hung up on LOL. It's amazing how many women I reach who get riled up because I call asking for their significant other then find out I'm just calling about their car but this one takes the cake. Added to do not call list lol.
