Let the dog outside. There's a thunderstorm that just rolled in. I closed the back door because of how humid it is. Got sidetracked playing Fallout 4. Look up an hour later and I go to help the wife put Noah to bed and I'm like "where's the do.....oh fuck." Normally when it rains he will sit right next to the door because he hates getting wet. I look out the kitchen window and he's sitting on the hillside staring at me. He was drenched. And he was just sitting there looking at me, judging. I'm a bad human.
Take it to the BBB. Even for petty stuff, businesses usually just fold to your demands or try to appease you in some way because it isn't worth the negative mark on their record. Learned that from how the company I works deals with BBB complaints (I.e. Instantly cave even if the customer is 100% wrong and being an asshole)
I remember when my wife ordered a treadmill and I found a good deal at Sears Outlet. Day before delivery manager calls and says they cannot honor the sale as we were out of delivery range for that particular branch and we'd have to order from a closer location. Problem being the closer locations didn't have as good deals. So I went to the BBB, told them I lost a day of work because of them pulling out after previously agreeing to deliver. Sears regional manager then called me and told me whilst they couldn't deliver from that branch, he would give me the pick of the treadmills from any of the closer branches for the same price. End result being we got a $2k treadmill for $800.
Ehh we are just going to wait at this point. I made a corporate complaint but for the most part in California, the BBB is pretty neutered
Theyre plotting it together
Bad, Brill.
Also, late, but Ksan: Walk on that asshole. Warning Signs: #1: Shoddy work. If all the shit you CAN see is shoddy, who fucking knows what else is shoddy? #2: "No wait I'll fix it myself." #3: Not responding promptly. #4: Similar shit nearby for less.
Go for the similar shit. Even if it's a lot of work (it will be), it's more likely to accurately reflect the amount of work in the price.
One of my sisters friends is being incredibly passive aggressive cause i wouldnt sleep w her.
Shes sending me a couple snaps of her "date night"
Is there something in the water in Calgary that makes girls go off the deep end?
if everyone you around you is an asshole....
I know more than two people in calgary, fortunately.
Oh, and since you essentially brought up my co-worker from a month back; she was found to have been stealing comissions from others.
Looking at at least two houses tomorrow to see what my options are. TY guys.
For those that said they walked, were you in a seller's market for your area? (sites say this area is hot for sellers atm) Did you end up with something smaller than to start because of prices going up?
We can't afford a whole lot. Mostly looking to get into a 3 bedroom so we can start building equity and hopefully sell it in 5-6 years for something bigger. I'm afraid if we pass on this home we are not going to find anything else we can afford for that size (size is hard to get in california lol). Prices for the most part are rising in the area. It seems the particular area I am shopping in is going down a little (via Zillow, but I can imagine zillow is not that reliable on that stuff), but it predicts prices will be up at least 1.5% within the year.
I worry that the longer we take, the farther a decent home will slip out of our hands. I just want a place I can feel comfortable to raise my kids in. ;_;
[edit] There looks to be only two other possible homes I could switch to at this present time (looking at them tomorrow). What if they don't work out? Is it really still worth it to walk when nothing else might pop up?
It is worth it to walk. Don't settle for this place. Explore options. Be patient. Something will come up. The housing market is a perpetual buy/sell game.
Edit: Don't trust Zillow for anything other than market trends, and even take that with some skepticism. Home prices almost always rise in the spring and summer and the Zillow metric reflects that.
Be patient. My biggest regret was not walking away. Atlanta, where I live, is 100% a sellers market.
I had no problem walking but as of this moment there are 401 homes that meet my criteria that I can afford in this area not 3. If there were only 3 that would be a much tougher choice to make. however it doesn't sound like you are in a dire situation where you absolutely have to buy a home. The shortsale for 30k less, 100 less in HOA and more space sounds pretty appealing, assuming you can get your deposit back on your contract house that's probably what I would go for.
So pretty big fires in the county north of me. Apparently hundred or so homes lost like 30-40 miles away. Despite being rather close though area being nothing but hills and valleys and fog can't even tell anything is happening here
When it comes to a home Ksandra, never settle. From the sounds of it, this person is straight up trying to fuck you up the ass with an oversized dildo lubed in ben gay. Everything I read screams you are going to have to pay out the ass for a shit ton of repairs over the next couple of years if you go with that house. If nothing is available at the moment, just try to hold tight and save up a bit more money and try again. This is your home you are buying, not an apartment you can duck out of once your 12 month lease is up. If there is the slightest hint that something just isn't right, you are better off walking away.
Don't settle on a house you're not happy with. It's not like you can ditch it if you're unhappy, you have to put up with it for a minimum of a few years unless you're willing to take a hefty loss.
I agree with what everyone else has said, if the work you can see is shoddy then there is very likely unseen things that are even worse. The fact they are unwilling to compromise is a red flag to me too, that makes it sound like they know it is an issue or possibly worse than you think. A mortgage is a huge commitment, especially if it's a stretch to begin with, so don't ignore warning signs. You are talking about years of potential misery. I'd opt to get nothing rather than buy a house I was unhappy with
