I am teaching a Journalism class this year and it's primary focus is to create the yearbook and the school newspaper once a week.

I have two girls who do conspiracy theories articles every week (per their begging). It's been fine and mostly about celebrities, and the students (non-class) really seem to enjoy them.

I was editing the paper just now and saw their article this week is about crisis actors and cited Sandy Hook. I just fucking don't want that shit in the paper at all.

Are they meeting the objective requirements? If it's only the subject matter that is triggering you, get over it. Grade them without bias like a professional.

As much as I agree with the sentiment, Ksan still has to think of her job. When she's overseeing the school paper, she's also responsible for the content of the paper, and the administration wouldn't hesitate to hold this over her head forever.

While I agree that the conspiracy theory is ridiculous, it isn't the teacher's job to project their beliefs on the students.

Depends on what the kids are writing.

If they're saying that Americans have the right to own guns or that gun control should be tighter because of this, this, and that; then yes they have the right to express those opinions. If they're saying the CIA is injecting kids with chemicals during vaccinations to make them crazy and go on shooting sprees to cause fear and panic in the US populace; it can be removed from the school paper as it's not an argument founded with anything tangible.

If it looks like something that will cause you to get phone calls from people whose jobs require them to wear suits, nix it. If you don't like it, nix it.

It's your paper. Regardless of whatever lip service is paid to student autonomy, you are the adult personally responsible for this production. It's your rules.

Yeah, I thought about it a lot and pulled the article. It just doesn't sit right with me at all.

I don't care about the grade. Lol The article doesn't need to be published for it to be graded. They'll get credit for the work. My issue was whether to print it or not.

I would've just nixed the entire conspiracy theory idea. Can avoid the whole picking and choosing which ones are tasteful or not because they are all idiotic

For me, my house means nothing happens here that I am not aware of and condone. Additionally, since this is also my wife's house, nothing happens here that she is not aware of and condones. If both of us do not agree, it does not happen.

I don't know you very well and I don't know your wife at all but my advice is to stick with the big fat NO FUCKING WAY and tell little brother to grow the fuck up and learn to live on the street if he can't get his shit together. I had to do this with my youngest sister after she lived with me for a year. She spent 6 months living in her car after couch surfing for 3 years when I kicked her out. She burned all her bridges before she finally decided that it was time to stop wasting her life. Now the little shit tries to credit my wife and I for helping her turn her life around and all I did was kick her out.

I've thankfully made my position clear I don't want him in my house for a single second wasting my cat's oxygen. Last time he caused thousands of dollars in damage on sheer stupidity. Not even stupidity because that's a cop out, he flat out just doesn't give a fuck. And that's his god damn problem/position. Why give a shit when you have two sisters who bail you out of literally everything!?

So now the wifey and her sister are going to help him find an apartment. The ultimate fail on them is that they've promised to help him with his first six months of rent as "motivation." I can't make up how much this mid 20's dude is babied, because that six months is gonna become a year+, so on and so forth.

Luckily, we've always structured all our original payments to bills as a single income from my job. The wifey is a full blown BSN/RN now and makes her own money, let her pay for this nonsense. That was the compromise until she gets pregnant. Then it's cut slingload of neckbeard. I've successfully washed my hands of it.

tl;dr Sorry for the long post. I really get pissed that asshole is a legit staple in my life. We went to Sweet Water Tavern the other day as a family. Everyone used a knife to butter their sweet bread, he fucking dips four of his fingers into it with it. When asked "Bro, don't dip your god damn fingers in it" He legit tries to argue he didn't until he looks at his and fingers and is like "Oh..." He that type of dude.
