Still don't understand why people want to live in San Fran. Every time I get sent there with work, it's fucking miserable downtown and I don't remotely feel safe. Don't know why you would subject yourself to that for cheap, nevermind for crazy amounts.

And this is coming from someone who willingly lives in Florida

So boss still hasn't contacted old computer guy for password so I can connect new comp to network. Old ones fan sounds like a leaf blower now so on top of everything else that was wrong with it

Got rear ended on the way home from work. Stopped dead in traffic whilst filtering onto another road and guy plows into the back of me at I'd guess 20-30 mph. Car in front had just started moving so avoided me hitting him by like half a second

I have no clue how but amazingly zero damage to either car, just a small lick of paint on my bumper. So I tell him not to worry about it and don't bother getting his details. Judging from his relief he was either uninsured or texting or something.

All great except now I have a crick in my neck that I didn't feel at the time it happened. This better go away quickly...

Work got cancelled because of Hurricane Hermine two Fridays ago. Had a lot of damage around town, and no power at the office. Our boss sent out emails to everyone telling them not to come to work until further notice (which turned out to be Tuesday because of Labor Day holiday). Found out today the company isn't paying us for that missed Friday and I had to retroactively use a vacation day to get paid for it. Laaaaaaaaame.

Been out sick the last two days at work. Interim director is raging because her Surface Book keeps disconnecting her network drives when she logs in before it has a chance to connect to our network either via secure wifi in county buildings, or her connecting to VPN, and feels double clicking a .bat file on her desktop to reconnect them is not an appropriate fix. And to boot is also raging that she can't connect to the secure wifi at an offsite location. Secure wifi works fine in our building, so absolutely nothing I can do about it since the county maintains the network, as well as the wifi in county buildings....

Like you don't think I can't tell when you use the vocab words in sentences (which was the assignment) that use words and phrasing that don't sound like you at all? And that certainly don't sound like something an 8th grader would come up with? You don't think that I'm smart enough to catch onto it and Google the exact phrase and find out that you literally just copied example sentences from Dictionary.com? Now I have to write your ass up because you're too stupid to realize that I'm not stupid at all.

Oh come on like we didn't all do shit like that In some form at school. You're teaching kids and are shocked at them trying to get out of shit ?

But writing them up for it..does that really help anything versus approaching the issue as a learning experience and explaining how it isn't helping to understand the content. Sometimes if people have trouble understanding the content they try to get out if it , it's not always being lazy or trying to be "smart " about it. I just scratch my head at your responses to shit sometimes.

It's plagiarism and that requires a write up. We take plagiarism very seriously.

Not as seriously as say, a college campus, but it's a big deal. Kids have to learn that copying off of each other or off of an internet website is not acceptable at any level.

And no I'm not surprised, I'm just exasperated by it because now it's more work for both me and the student.

Depends on the part of San Francisco. If you're in the tenderloin district after dark, you better be packing or in a huge group. But others, especially the embarcaderro and downtown where all the shopping is at, it's really nice. Reason SF has gotten so expensive is just due to the lack of fucking housing at all, especially in silicon valley. So you have all these highly paid employee's needing a place to live, and since SF is only about a 40 minute drive and most tech companies like Google will actually pay for a bus to pick you up in SF and drive you too and from work, that's where they all flocked. And it's like this all over. My friends mother lives in one of the absolute worst parts of Oakland. 2 years in a row was the neighborhood where the first homicide for the city took place, and her house is worth like 300k. It's such a shitty area, my friend won't even wear her sheriff's office uniform when she goes over there after work for fear of getting shot.

Youre essentially calling the cops on a 13 yr old for stealing a chocolate bar.

Pull them aside, explain to them why they cant do that and ensure that if it happens again it will result in extreme disciplinary action.

fuck teens. I called the cops on three 13 year olds for Grand Theft back when I worked at a movie store. They knew exactly what they were doing and some repeat offenders

Being written up for plagarism is basically one foot in the door of expulsion.

Personally, I would take the kids aside and warn them this won't fly in the future. When I was a kid I was a goody-two-shoes and even I wouldn't have thought copying the dictionary was plagiarism. I mean, it's definitely also possible the kid was seeing what your limits are, but that's when you let them know this goes beyond it. Then write them up if they do it again.

No, it's not. Most schools have progressive discipline. Usually a write up means instead of the teacher punishing, it's the principal/assistant principal (My school we have a Tuesday detention the AP administers for write ups. If you get several write ups for the same thing it leads to parent/teacher conferences, etc.).
