Yeah mine worked this morning as well. Started for me around 6:30 last night, but was still able to pull up simple webpages and other BS. Just went to bed a little earlier.

My dog is too smart and curious and dumb. On Sunday evening, she opened the fireplace screen and aspirated some ash while we picked up dinner. Just had to sniff that shit.

Now 3 nights of coughing later, I feel like I have a newborn without the wife. While it's the normal physiologic response to cough and spit up, I'm still concerned about her. Respiratory infection is possible, and that wouldn't be cheap. She isn't lethargic, so I'm refraining from the vet for now. She is getting better day-by-day; however it's still bothering her badly.

Just had to sit through a talk that looked like it would be interesting, but ended up being deeply rage-inducing and I had to just be nice and not instigate a massive academic argument during questions, because that is a dick move.

Probably just gonna go to the guys office later and yell at him.

Man, I was even able to bullshit papers at the college level. I'd literally go straight from the source, sentence per sentence and just reword each sentence as I wrote it.

Then once it was done I'd copy/paste my own sentences into a different order and throw in a couple filler sentences. Even using a dropbox like turnitin.com I'd come up with some of the lowest % matches in any of my classes, while having completely bullshitted said paper directly from the source.

If you get popped for high % match, you're just an outright idiot

The fucking bitch that did our physicals for life insurance lied and put a slightly higher blood pressure for me on our lab reports. I was 112/66, she put 122/70 and I know for a fact 120 systolic is a break point for most health incentives. I wanna make a stink about it, but watch her come back to retake it after I bitch and actually get 120+ cause now I'm stressed and annoyed.

It really doesn't matter cause my fake cholesterol is high anyway which is more significant in the results anyway lol. GG super low carb cut. Insulin was like 60 but it spiked my cholesterol, can't win em all.

Still annoyed about bp though.

90% of what we do is mobile so the hours we are open to the public for walk ins are different than our calling hours. Though the office phone isn't for that. It's not listed on our site or any of our advertising only have it because we had to for some reason. Boss believes in still handling customers even if they call the wrong number or show up when we aren't open and such though

I literally went running around our complex during my lunch just to get the stress out. That part is a win at least but I'm not asking for much here.

A few weeks ago, my mom asked me to stop by her friend's place and pick something up. I say sure, ask for the address. She gives me directions that, when followed on Google, do not work. I ask again for address. Nope, just follow directions. Fucking fine. I'll do my best, but no promises.

We found it, but only because my girlfriend is VERY familiar with the area and figured out the mistake in my mom's directions (and also because I'd been there once before, as a passenger, so while I didn't know how to get there, I did know what it looked like). And, it turned out, the thing I was supposed to get wasn't ready yet. But we had a pleasant chat with her friend, so it worked out.

I know dem feels. When doing a favor that requires you to go somewhere you're not familiar with, I feel like an address is not an unreasonable request.

I know I have better critical thinking skills than my supervisor. Today, I had to solve a problem myself and was able to produce a solution to the downstream group. Supervisor takes said information and completely fucks it up. He looked like an idiot on the email chain. Everyone ignores him and then I get the gratitude for getting straight to the point with the right information.

Then I get stuck in said email chain of finger pointing when I'm not longer relevant to the conversation. *facepalm*

So boss brought in some tomatoes fresh from his garden. Took some home but since they were really ripe and biking home a bunch of them split open. I mean they still good and all and I put them in a ziplock in case something like that happened but was planning on saving them for a salad this weekend and those ones wont last until. Probably still have enough but wont be as much as I wanted while being enough where I don't want to bother getting more

tbh, I would never bother my AP over an assignment that was copied from the dictionary. He has to deal with drugs and kids leaving classrooms n' shit.


Not only that, but my English teacher idol (lol), Kelly Gallagher, is a guy who wants you getting the kids to plagiarize the fuck out of writing, and I agree with him.

Scroll past if you don't care: He says he treats writing like music. Most bands don't form and then start on day one playing brilliant music they invented themselves. They form and play shitty music of bands they like, until they get good at playing those songs. Then they make their own songs.

No kid in HS is going to get arrested for plagiarizing anything for a school assignment. So he advocates showing models (writing style) and then having the kids copy the models to make it their own. It honestly, makes so much fucking sense to me.

In Aks example, the kid could just be a lazy ass. Or maybe he/she really struggles at that kind of activity (not unheard of), and therefore doesn't do well at making his/her own sentences. He/she found a real world model of a correct sentence using that word. So while less effort is involved, he saw the word being used correctly. That can be valuable.


This is not to say all teachers must let kids plagiarize. Just this is my own personal philosophy. It becomes very important in the type of school I am in where most students are ESL or ELD and spend most of their time at home speaking another language. But each teacher has to figure out what will help and what will hurt a student learn. We can't really judge because Aks knows the kid more than us.

I would, however, talk to the AP at some point to see what his/her expectations are regarding write-ups for this type of thing. Often, the AP really wants the teacher to handle it the best they can before it coming to them.

A win for me related to this (even though in the fail thread), our school got a fed grant that does various things for the 9th graders. One is I get some tutors in my room in the afternoons to help kids. Yesterday, the tutor came up to me after class and shook my hand. She said, "Thank you," to me and explained that she thought the students were very lucky to have me and that they seemed so enthralled in the lesson.

I am also very likely to become the English department head in the next few years.

Honestly, I didn't do a write-up for it, and I really wasn't ever going to. I talked to the kid, explained why that wasn't okay, and even gave him a chance to redo the assignment. I had a pretty massive headache last night and I was cranky and I posted knee-jerk. Then people wanna come up in here and criticize what I do when I was already pissy so ... yeah. There are things that are required write-ups, and that's not one of them. But it was always going to be something that was disciplined, which is still more work than just giving the grade and handing it back. Again, cranky and tired, forgive me.

I actually wrote a kid up today for writing on a piece of paper that "<Name> is a carpet muncher" and showing it to the whole class. Because fuck that little douchebag.
