Thanks. I rarely get sick for more than a day or two, and will stubbornly play vidya while I'm at home and I don't even have it in me to play bravely second or overwatch right now.

Establish early if can be trusted to pay you back...he could be short after giving you two months of rent as well as a security deposit and payday is tomorrow (or friday)

Friend was killed by a drunk driver this week. Drunk was going 95mph in a 35, fled the scene, was arrested a few hours later. Our friend died at the scene; she was 28 years old.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

How someone manages to hit a pedestrian while going nearly three times the speed limit in a residential area instead of all the other things (signs, curb, other cars, property, etc) one could hit is decently baffling and terrible luck.

Sorry about your friend, Rora. It sounds like it was horrible.

It's open enrollment now at my job and we are being offered a lower tier health coverage plan. I could switch to it and save about $100 a month but obviously I'd get worse coverage. Racking my brain to figure out what coverage would be best for me is some first world adulting problems. Waaaaaah.

    Are you married?
Are you having a kid within the next year?
Do you have any prescriptions that would not be covered?
Do you have any existing medical conditions that you may need a specialist for?
Will you need referrals for any specialist?
Does you current PCP take the new plan?
If you have to go to the doctor, how much will come out of pocket?
Will it offset saving $1,200.00 over the course of a year?

one benefit to being HIV positive... I ain't never gotta gamble with potential medical expenses over the course of the year. I know I'm gonna hit every deductible there is lol

No wife or kids. No current prescriptions or preexisting conditions. Basically I am relatively healthy, I went to the doctor I think twice last year for minor things like cold and a sinus infection.

If I downgraded my copay would go from $35 to $45 for a general practice visit. Specialist visits would go from $50 copay to no copay/applied to deductible. Prescriptions copay doesn't change at all. My total out of pocket cost max would increase from $10k to $15k. As explained to me by the insurance agent, this plan would only be of benefit to me in the event of something catastrophic. As someone with no preexisting conditions or meds or wife and kids to worry about, I've been thinking it's in my interest to downgrade. Really the only thing that makes me hesitate is the $50 copay for a specialist to not being covered by a specialist. I'm just playing the "what if" game, which I guess is what insurance is all about.

Remember, and it plays into the what if, something as simple as recovery of a broken bone from a slip and fall may involve seeing a specialist. That could wipe out the 1200 savings and then some.

But also those things are hopefully not even close to yearly events. But frequency varies greatly between lifestyles, health etc. So who knows I've known some that break a bone every year or 2 meanwhile I've yet to have anything major breaks though there have been times I really should've

I "downgraded" mine and increased my copays for this years coverage because I never go. The money I save could better be used.

I did the same for my car insurance deductibles because I have never been in an accident, and the sums of money wasted by having better or no deductibles over course of time has costed me/will cost me more than I would have had to pay.

Just weigh the risks. There is no real right or wrong.

1500 deductible health ins thru work, get my wisdom teeth taken out, payed almost 2k upfront, dental send to health ins for w/e reason, have to use up my whole deductible on it, then they just arbitrarily decide 400 worth not covered under insurance, so they end up paying 80 bucks I fucking hate our healthcare system jfc

I think nerves and sickness got the better of me at a typing/accuracy test for a county job. I don't think I did horrible but not my best. Worst five minutes of my life. I also am having symptoms my hubby had a few days ago and my flu symptoms haven't improved in 7 days so back to doctor I go. At least with double coverage I have zero copays and zero cost for prescriptions.

Finally get some rain in the bay area. Not a like a real storm but good solid showers and now power is fluctuating and just turned off my work comp. Here's hoping this broken peice of crap will start back up again
