You have no idea what the context was. Replacing "white boy" with "bitch" or "faggot" doesn't radically change this case from my point of view.

So then what other reason would there be for a well behaved 13 year old to get gasoline poured on him and then set on fire? Also, some more details would be worthwhile, don't see how they held him down to pour gas on him and then lit it just as easily without catching themselves on fire.

Also, would saying "nigger" or "Faggot" not constitute it as a hate crime, if he were in fact gay or black?

Maybe the victim ratted the pyro out for cheating on a test. Maybe the victim was talking to the pyro's girlfriend. Maybe the victim stole from the pyro's locker?

I find it very, very hard to believe that some black teenagers were just randomly looking for a white kid to set on fire because they hate white people. It's extremely more likely that they hated this particular white person for a particular reason unrelated to his whiteness, and the mild racially-charged language used was incidental at best.

Show me a fight between a black and white person for any reason where no racial language was used and I'll show you what I look like when I'm surprised.
