I don't think that's what archi means. I have to admit that "hate crime" is thrown around a fuckton on these forums before anything is known. Hell, they still don't even know if the kid was telling the truth as they haven't found any suspects yet.

I can agree to that. Its annoying on both sides. Anything with the victim being black its a hate crime. Sometimes people say that before it gets out that the attacker was also black (though, im sure people could be racist against their own background.)

Exactly. I mean, I don't want to sound negative, but it wasn't that long ago where there was a woman who put acid on her own face then claimed some black woman threw it at her. Not saying that this kid did it to himself (god I hope not), but until we know the whole story, it's semi silly to start jumping up and down claiming things that we really don't know.

As is, it's recent articles that are pointing out that the "whitey" comment wasn't written in the police report. I guess the story is that the kid confided to his mom that part when he was in the hospital, and she told people it. Now, there's no reason to not believe her, but there's also no reason to believe her either until there's a little more evidence that surfaces.

No matter what, it's a tragic situation regardless of who caused it to happen, but it does seem somewhat silly to jump and claim "hate crime" at this point in time just because we know so little about it.

I graduated with 400~ other students. I remember near the end of senior year them putting all our portraits around the cafeteria and I looked thinking, "who the fuck are these people?"

There were way too many that I never had a class/interaction with and that was just in my own grade level so it's totally possible.

Seriously. My class had 350 people, and my HS had ~1400. I knew maybe half of my class (and by knew, i mean i could recognize them, not that i necessarily their name or anything else about them). Going into other grades, i knew almost no one. Maybe 100 or so that i took classes with, and maybe a dozen others that were hard to miss, or my brother's friends. Who the fuck knows everyone they go to high school with?

It's eventually going to come out that his parents did it to him or he's an idiot and was playing with fire and lied.

I'm saying if it did happen the way they say, and whitey blah blah was said, that seems pretty hateful. My thing is, I cannot believe they were kids from his school and he can't even ID them. That part seems shady to me.

also, not everyone is blessed with your prodigious facial recognition skillz, Sera. Like I said, my graduating class was about 60 people and I could recognize maybe 40 additional students' faces at my school. I knew the names of maybe 10 of those additional students. Everyone else I considered to be background noise and ignored them. Two of my closest friends now were in the two classes after mine and I had never met either of them until ~senior year when a mutual friend introduced us. I'm just awful with names in general.

My graduating class was around 300 I think, and I remembered the faces of almost everyone in my grade. Only knew about half the faces from the grade below me, and a handful from the two grades above me. Didn't remember shit outside of that. Of course, we were almost all white. Didn't have to deal with the asian factor I now deal with.
