I'm not too worried about getting too heavy because I'm training for strength not mass and I'll eventually be cutting weight in like 9 months if I pick up too much fat along with the muscle. I've seen some decent rock climbers who do it as a hobby who are much bigger and stronger than I am and they can do some pretty tough routes.
But yeah, pull-ups definitely are something I might start focusing on more when I get a membership. I'm only at 7.5 lbs with weight for reps, and it'd be nice to bring that a lot higher.
I'm not too worried about grip strength because deadlifts have done wonders for that although something like that might be nice to train the fingers a bit more. Well, I mean, yeah, I'm going to find out that my fingers have no strength but I think climbing will probably be the best training for it.
The door pull ups are really good exercise if you want to work on finger strength and don't have a gym as well. Rock climbers are honestly some of the craziest people I've met. My ex woke me up once in the middle of the night after an argument by knocking on my window with a flower in his teeth, I lived on 12th floor back then. I was so mad at him. You can climb decently even if you're a bit bigger, but the less you weigh, and the thinner you are, the less you have to carry, and the easier it will be to get through narrow passages and such.
They were truly insane. I hated going out with them, because they always ended up playing floor is lava on the way home, and it took ages to get anywhere, they climbed on houses out of boredom, once they stole a garden dwarf from someone and placed it on a roof of a nearby kindergarten, then got bad conscience about it few days later and went back to return it, but it was already gone. There is no happy end to it sadly, my ex's best friend jumped out of his window to catch the girl who had just broken up with him, tripped, fell poorly and broke his neck.
Climbing is pretty fun actually, but really hard. I was never much for indoor climbing, and I never did any serious climbing outdoors either, just some easy stuff for fun. I guess I would have enjoyed it more if it didn't include sleeping outdoors or camping. It's really an amazing feeling to manage to drag yourself up on top of a cliff though.
Illy is everywhere, it's not that great either. The trick with coffee is to get fresh ground. Basically that means never getting anything from a supermarket. I get mine from the roaster directly. Om nom nom.
Yeah, I think we'd get on great Luci, we can outsnob each other.
pre-roasted? pfff
Oh no, I mean fresh as in my burr grinder does it before I stick it in the espresso machine :D I get fresh roasted beans from hasbean.co.uk![]()
I would have thought someone of your literary prowess would have been more clear.
Europeans commenting on taste lol
Just a stove-top popcorn popper and/or an electric hot air one. It's a lot simpler than you'd imagine. Then again, I haven't done it and I just know the theory.
Regarding coffee, you'll usually be pretty safe if you're buying from some sort of fair-trade co-op. Will usually be organic too, but I do not give one iota of a fuck about that. I've never really had 'bad' fair-trade coffee unless someone has roasted it to the point where it's kind of burnt.
