What SE needs to do is make instances 1 day lockout (as in you can only do it once per day) and each boss is guaranteed to drop 1-2 pieces of gear. Ifrit/Garuda/Moogle should work this way too.

And before you guys say "omg thats easy mode blah blah blah everyones gonna get geared out" seriously stfu. Theres nothing difficult about getting cockblocked on gear cause you're not getting lucky with dice rolls.

While a good idea. You can sorta screw over your LS mates. Let's say you have about 10 people on. Obviously only 8 can go in and the other 2 are SoL that night.

Those two can find a PUG or go tomorrow and get guaranteed drops as opposed to running it 10 times today and getting dark matter. I think the choice is obvious. Remember, you're locked to an instance the moment you defeat any boss not as soon as you zone in.

Also about this merger... I wonder if SE is ready for all the same issues that plagued this game since open beta with the current servers; tons and tons of lag. You think the lag is bad now? You clearly don't remember what it was like then when there were a lot more people playing across all the servers. Gonna need to get the fuck outta Ul'Dah tomorrow.

Fair enough, though I"d rather play another game than find a PUG.

lol, no. I'd much rather spam a fight and get DM all day than do a fight once and be forced to sit in Uldah the rest of the day due to a lock out timer.

^This. If there were enough things to do in the rest of that day, maybe, but there's not really much to do as it is, you'd lock the few things remaining? What would people log on for? To craft?!

Keep current system, remove weapon drops, make totems a 50% drop minimum.

    Problem solved.

    (emphasis on 50% minimum)

For this, you could always just limit it to "You can only accept the quest once every 24 hours." You can still do Ifrit all you want, but you won't get a treasure chest because you don't have a lamp.

I would prefer to see a tag system when they inevitably introduce lockouts, ala Nyzul/valor points: Store one tag (lamp) every day, up to 4-7 tags. That way you can use your lockouts when you want/can.

Imo, having strict 20-24 hour lockouts (or daily resets) makes content feel like a daily chore that you have to do every day, or else you're missing out.

If they have to introduce lockouts, then I agree the above will be the best system. Sort of like what leve allowances are now.

Heck, they could just make it so it uses leve allowances. I can't get rid of them fast enough as is anyhow.

As someone that doesn't log into the game everyday, I approve of this comment.

Might work, but unless people have a chance at getting something out of it, odds are they won't help. At least that's what my experience has been like in most MMOs.

They need to have the system keep track of how many wins each you get and increase your personal drop rate for each success eventually to 100%, and reset it upon getting a drop.

Example: Ifrit win 1: 1%, Ifrit win 2: 5%, Ifrit win 3: 10%, Ifrit win 4: 15%, Ifrit win 5: 20%, etc. Then when you get a drop, the next run you do will be back to the usual 1%. Thus, having a horrible streak of terribad luck will have something at the end of the rainbow besides infinite Dark Matter.

I imagine that SE doesn't like this idea because it puts a cap on how many times a player has to do an event before they have everything and never come back to it.

Within an LS, I think being able to help folks for 1 or 2 fights (which really isn't going to take that long), even if you don't have a chance at an item (because you've already gotten yours for that lockout period) wouldn't be a problem at all.

They could implement a loot lockout rather than an instance lockout.

Run once: get a Bag of increased Loot Drop
    Run twice+: same as now.

You need to be careful to avoid a situation where the party will want to bring 1 new member at time to increase his drop rate. It happened in WoW when they switched to that model (24 players would run the instance for the 25th guy to maximize drop rate.).

Personally, I have nothing against individual reward, especially in a game where you can level everything, but it has to not be handled like they did with Ifrit.
