Edit: Welp, WWE with the anti swerve swerve. Everybody figured Taker was coming tonight so Cena beats Punk clean. Amazing match though. Hopefully Taker can start his feud with Punk next week.

Taker/Punk will begin next week, and honestly it's a good way to go about it.
This match was fantastic, and deserved a clean win.

That was a WM caliber match right there and I doubt Cena/Rock 2 will be half as good. And as soon as they touted the Taker I knew he wasn't coming out, which is fine. It makes more sense storywise anyway, Punk shot his promo today so Take has a week to respond, otherwise it would've been like he was just sitting around in the back waiting for the comments.

That said, for the NEXT WM, the WWE championship match I want to see is Punk v Bryan. That HAS to happen at WM because the things they'd be able to pull on on the grandest stage of them all will be match of the century quality.

That Cena/Punk match was probably the most I have been into any match on raw in years. That thing was intense and kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time.

Naw, that spot was there from the jump. First thing I saw when he was coming down the ramp, strange as hell. I just can't figure out how that happens... ass sweat.

Cena's gonna break his neck if he keeps trying those hurricanranas lol. Nice to see that he's throwing some new stuff in though. Match with Punk was superb, and as much shit as Cena gets for being stale(which he is), the dude can fucking work. Also like that they've been fairly unpredictable on a lot of their matches lately.

Disappointed at no heel turn in the near future with Orton, why is he even being thrown into the stuff with the Shield?

They attacked him during a match with Brad Maddox, which I completely forgot about, so I guess it works but yeah, it just seems terribly timed to be throwing him into now.

I can see it being used for Orton's heel turn. All he has to do is go up to Ryback and tell him he's finishing the job he couldn't do.

I freaking LOVED the use of the piledriver in that match. It was a great part of the storytelling. Neither guy was able to put the other away with their signature moves, so they went with something you don't normally see. Cena busts out a POWERBOMB, which is still an awesome move and always believable as a finisher, and then Punk counters with the PILEDRIVER, which despite being banned for a few years the crowd still recognizes as an OH SHIT HE MIGHT BE DEAD move. I mean, just listen to that audible gasp from the crowd when he hits it. Even King and Cole were great with King exclaiming "OH NO!!!", knowing what was coming, and Cole really sold the surprise of seeing the move again. And in the end it was Cena who busted out one additional crazy move with THE CENASTEINER to throw Punk off his game and get the win. Just great stuff.

Apparently Vince was mad about the use of the piledriver. Its Cena and Punk so nothing will come of it I'm sure but don't expect to see it again anytime soon.

Yea, pretty much Kane/Taker are the only ones allowed now, along with Lawler who will probably never wrestle again. I understand why, especially with what happened to Austin from Owen.

Kane hasnt used a tombstone in ages though. And taker is wrestlemania only, and they dont give a fuck what happens at wrestlemania ("taker and hhh were both fined for chairshots to the head" public bullshit)

Both kane and taker used it at Raw 1000. And I'm pretty sure I've seen the current masked Kane use it recently. Tombstone Piledriver isn't really as bad as a normal piledriver anyway. They lift the person up fully and are able to support them and let their own legs take the brunt of the fall.

Yea, the Tombstone is a FAR less risky version of the Piledriver seeing as they usually drop down on their knees and the guy's head is no where *near* hitting the matt. Piledrivers are much harder to control and have a much higher chance of going wrong since there isn't as much buffer space since they land on their ass with the guy's head between their legs.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was a last minute call from Punk/Cena mid match to use it, from what I hear most of their matches go completely unscripted outside of the outcomes. Which just shows both guys can be pretty damn awesome to watch if given the right chance and proper freedom.

Yeah they are ok with the tombstone as it can be a more controlled move the way it's done unlike the piledriver Owen Hart used on Austin. Even Lawler isn't allowed to do his piledriver anymore. I can't remember the last time I saw him use it in a match. He usually uses the fist drop off the middle rope to end his matches the last few years. It was a nice heel move by Punk really with the way it's been treated like it's an almost but not quite illegal move now like it is/was in Mexico.
