I feel like he broke character with the his laughter. While Steph's reaction was understandable, I feel like Batista actually crossed a line and they just kind of ad libbed the closing minutes.

Yea, I think Batista just kinda winged it and legit insulted Steph. When she was slapping DBry last week, you could tell she was just kinda doing it for the storyline (not really hitting him hard), but she smacked the living shit out of Batista and probably broke his glasses. Hell, even her facial expressions showed it... she seemed generally hurt/insulted. Either that or they all just became better actors in the span of a week.

I just rewatched it. The slap seems rather tame. Orton just seemed like he was trying to sell the laugh more than anything else.

I somewhat agree. Batista wouldn't be that stupid. On the other hand, I though Orton found it legitimately funny.

And I'm reminded of how one Raw ep, she came down and slapped all the camera guys and saying how she should fire everyone. Generated a ton of heat with that.

The end of the opening segment seemed off to me. Bastista's insult was pretty poor, Steph slapping him and leaving when she was the first one out seemed wrong somehow and Orton guffawing like a buffoon for a straight minute just didn't look right. Not to mention Boo's awful, awful spear.

I feel bad for Christian, though. It feels like he's had more comebacks since 2011 than he's had matches.
