I'd agree; he hates to be upstaged by anyone, and that caused 90% of the problems back in the 2000's; the other 10% being injuries.

From what I read he is filming Grown Ups 2 and that conflicted with being able to attend raw tonight
This was seriously the best Raw they've had in the last whothefucknowshowmany years. A complete DX reunion(minus Chyna, but fuck her anyway), Stephanie McMahon, Trish, and Lita all looking hot as shit still, god damn Lita, and the APA. And did I mention Lita looked amazing still?
As for actual matches, definitely didn't see the Punk heel turn coming. Don't think it'll be a three-way with the belt, but Cena should almost definitely get a rematch.
Yeah reason Stone Cold couldn't be there was because he was filming Grown-Ups 2. What a waste.
Good RAW overall, really hoping for a Punk/Austin feud come WM, maybe it'll start after the Rumble if Punk retains for that long.
Had a good "IS THIS REAL LIFE?" moment with Punk/Bryan/Rock in the same ring. Bryan reminds me of early Kurt Angle. God I hope he doesn't feud with Charlie Sheen. -_-
Full out DX reunion made me cheer like a kid again, and I LOVED that Damien Sandow interrupted them. Gives him more heat.
Just got home from the show. I haven't seen how it came across on TV but being there in person, I saw Punk's heel turn coming. Punk sat there and watched Big Show take out Cena. After that he did the whole 'What do I do? Pin Cena or not?' while trying to revive the ref. Then after the Match he just stood there and turned his back while Show beat up Cena. He slid out of the ring once The Rock's music hit but he just stood there. I turned to my buddy after The Big Show first came out and punched Cena and told him "I can see Punk being a dick during all of this".
On TV could have came off much differently.
Nothing beats a show in person. The night was incredible. The atmosphere, the crowd, the whole thing was fantastic. One thing I doubt was on TV was when The Undertaker came out, he had problems removing his coat. It got stuck on one of his giant gloves. Not sure how that played off on TV either but it felt like forever with 2 crew members yanking at his coat trying to remove it.
Also during dinner, had 2 different groups of ppl start "YES" Chants with me. Was pretty awesome.
Just finished watching it, didn't see the punk heel turn coming before the match but once he didn't step in and help Cena it was obvious. Punk vs Cena re-match at SS (and WWE title match STILL won't be ME even with Cena in it cos of HHH vs Lesnar). Hoping they go all out with this Punk turn and not just half-assed like they have a tendency to. The night achieved exactly what it needed to, good bit of nostalgia from the first 1000 shows, and something to make you tune in next week. Kudos WWE.
Yeah, once it was at the moment with Big Show in the ring, it was obvious what was going down, but prior to that I had no idea. The DX segment with Damien coming out was hilarious, he did pretty well with it. When he was trying to get in their huddle and they pushed him off into the corner and he went "That's rude." I laughed so fucking hard, was perfect.
I noticed Punk acting weird as well from the moment Big Show interfered. It was visible on TV and the commentators kept bringing it up. By then was a bit late to be "calling the heel turn" though because it was happening by then lol
Just the fact that we're taking about it as if it was some kind of infection that slowly came over him means that he sold the heel turn pretty damned well. I share other's thoughts that I hope that it is a complete turn, and not simply a "I did what I had to do and nothing more" half turn. While I don't need to see the obligatory, drama-laden "YOU FANS WERE NEVER WITH ME FROM THE START!!" nonsense, I have no problem with Punk becoming obsessed with doing whatever it takes to hold the belt, simply because he's starting to pass some of the greatest belt runs in history, like Hogan's 91' run.
Besides, it'll be nice to break up the Punk fans which have been slaughtering Cena lately. Having a nice hot mix of half-and-half fans on BOTH wrestlers sides will be a pretty cool thing.
I'm still baffled by the "Cena sucks!" chants. Dude frequently shows off his strength, is good on the mic, and has most definitely had his share of rough matches. I dunno, maybe they're mad he doesn't impersonate Eminem anymore, but I didn't like that persona, either.
I thought Raw was pretty amazing. Right at the start when Triple H said "Did there used to be more of us?" I cried. To me DX was the highlight of the show. Steph and Lita both super hot which I wouldn't have expected. Brother of Destruction reunion was just bad ass.
For Punk a Heel turn was probably the best option if he is going to be feuding with Cena at SS and a potential match with Stone Cold (Rumor) at Wrestlemania. I was really bored with the Rock/Cena going back and forth for 2 years with nothing really exciting happening between the two. I think it could have been spiced up much more if one was heel. Imo Cena is due for a heel turn more than anyone but I don't see that happening ever. I expect in his feud with Punk there will be a lot of cheers for Punk and Boo's for Cena much like last time they fought around this time a year ago. Maybe not though who knows, maybe Punk will really make people hate him.
About the Title lengths I think what they are doing is fine. To me its really annoying to see someone hold a title for a month or less just to rack up the total count of someone else holding it. I might be remembering this wrong and too lazy to look it up but last year there was a point where the title was bouncing back and forth between Cena and Del Rio which was just annoying to me. When talking about former champions it rarely matters how long someone was champion but more about how many times. Usually all anyone cares about is the amount of times they have so when title reigns only last like 2 minutes eventually everyone will be Champion 47 times. It probably shouldn't be like that but whatever! That's how I see it.
Its all the grown men that chant it. The only way I'd ever chant it is if I watched wrestling consistently from 2004-2010, because he won the title like 10 times in that period, and I get sick of -anyone- who wins too much. Coincidentally, I'm sick of Shaemus and was sick of Triple H as well. Even The Rock got bland to me back in the day after winning and winning and winning. I like seeing new guys get screen time, and though I know its the nature of the biz and how fast guys progress, I'm still sick for not seeing more of guys like Mason Ryan, even if they're not in a title hunt.
I also love Steph. I want to see more Steph. Those damned lucky kids getting Steph to visit them at their schools don't know how good they have it... or maybe they do. Maybe there's some kid in the back furiously beating off when she's on stage.
I'd buy that kid a burger.
Yeah, even back when Flair was more in his not-quite-out-of-his-prime phase, hearing them prattle on about 16 time champion or whatever just kinda drew an eyeroll since it also meant he lost it 16 times. Part of me's of the mind that the actual purpose of a title is pointless within the fixed medium of wrestling. Something more like MMA makes sense, or tournament style settings, but randomly deciding whomever the #1 contender is seems to be just that, random. I wouldn't mind more King of the Ring style events where the winner winds up getting some perk like GMing the shows until the next one or something, but that'd mainly be a catalyst for sparking feuds either with them or people they set up during their runs.
While it was expected for Rock to get the title shot, it is kinda wtf because it's just too random. As if, nothing needs to be earned. I'd also just like to point out how AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOME the IC will be now :D
Only thing I haven't seen was the punk/cena match since I have to pick the wife up at work at 11 -_- DX was awesome, I marked out like a bitch when APA came out and Slater sold that clothesline from hell like a fucking boss. and of course the double choke slams followed by the double tombstones.
He really did sell the shit out of that.
That's what I'm talkin' about. Good shit.
I know it would probably be twice as expensive as TNG seasons when they first came out on DVD but i'd take out a small loan to get all the episodes of Raw and SD from the attitude era.
That'd be a lot of DVDs...
