I expected Brock to win. I did not expect Brock to utterly DESTROY Cena. That shit was getting uncomfortable to watch after about the tenth german suplex.

There's an interview with Heyman out there where he talks about how the Belt is devalued and how Brock winning the title will only bring glory back to the belts. Instead of seeing the Champion defending the title at every show, at every PPV, you never know when the Champion will be there and will only fight when he feels someone is worthy. If he defended the title at every show, he would destroy everyone in the WWE in a matter of weeks and then he would be left with no challengers and then nobody would care.

I like the theory behind that. Plus this could force people into proving themselves to be the ones to challenge The Champion instead of "ok you win a battle royal or you win a 4 way on Raw to see who the next Challenger is".

For me, before they were unified again, the WWE Championship felt like a glorified television championship.
I don't like both belts being carried around but it's better than seeing the spinner belt.
It was very disheartening hearing this past year that belts really don't mean anything behind the scenes in WWE, they are about entertainment and the belts are just props.

The only real reason you saw the champ like once every 3 months in the old days (pre-Raw) was because you only really had the big PPVs like RR, WM, SS, and SuSe. While I do feel like the concept of a belt is antiquated in a fixed sport, it's still there. Ferrying it off into obscurity isn't going to make it more relevant. Making a dickhead and the Paulrus your face isn't going to have fans going ooo and aaa. I bring this up because there's a difference between drawing heat and drawing hate. Not enough guys in the back worthy of the gold? Fine, I can get that and understand that. This doesn't fix that problem, though. It just shifts it from Cena hate to a part-timer.

It's probably safe to say the WWE is a victim of its own overexposure. Dropping shows is unlikely due to the Network (Only $9.99!), but they should probably renew their focus. Let Raw be the A-listers, Smackdown the B's, and NXT the up-and-comers. People can rise and fall depending on fan reactions, sure, but seeing the folks that dominate Raw doing the same on SD isn't helping in their finding of the next champ or other Big Thing(tm). Stop the Bolieve shit, enough raving bunnies, main eventing divas, and all the idiotic stuff that really doesn't go anywhere. And FFS, if the belts are unified now, just use one belt.

I believe the single belt might be debuting tonight, but in all honestly Summerslam was one of the most entertaining PPVs I've seen in a long time.

Except for the ending of the Orton/Reigns match (felt way too Super Cena for Reigns to win off a single spear like that) that whole thing was fantastic top to bottom. Brock winning makes sense and when he eventually does lose its gonna be a huge deal.
