The triple threat was fantastic, Brock put on a clinic but the rumble was awful even with ddp and bubba appearing. How the fuck WWE ignores how over Bryan is as a face is beyond me. Reigns could be the guy in time but hes gotta get better with the mic and not be forced or hes never going to get there.

I enjoyed the rumble. I don't think DB should have won it. Brock is established as a god damned monster right now, shrugging off finisher after finisher after finisher and destroying both Cena and Rollins despite being hit with everything they had over and over. I'll say what no one wants to hear: DB is not a credible threat to Brock. His story with Trips and Batista last year was a storyline about them trying to beat him down and demoralize him first and foremost. The narrative was that neither believed he was on that level, classic dramatic bad guy stuff of underestimating the good guy and losing on sight of it.

Brock doesn't do that. Narrative is that Brock destroys people. All the pluck and willpower and courage in the world isn't going to stop him, and DB just doesn't look like he can do the job. Plus there's a certain level of hypocrisy with the IWC shitting all over Reigns as an unstoppable superman but then crying that DB isn't booked like one, too. These are the same people who got hype over Rock showing up after being gone for 10 months or however long it's been. And those people are the same idiots booing Brock for being an absentee champion when Rock wrote the blueprint on that after declaring himself #1 contender, taking the belt and vanishing for two months.

The storyline is fine. Let WM be booked as an Extreme Rules match, let Reigns cut his promos on Cena being "too nice" and not doing whatever it takes, let Brock finally be put down after being beaten senseless with weapons and whatever, and let Rollins immediately cash in post-match. Then have Brock demand his rematch clause only for Heyman to reveal he doesn't have one because he never expected Brock to get beat. Bork F5s Heyman and goes away until he inevitably re-signs.

But seriously. Crying because your chosen unstoppable superman didn't win is silly. #cancelwwenetwork indeed.

This extended past smarks or the IWC. Time magazine's website ran an article calling the Royal Rumble a fiasco. WWE is getting the mainstream exposure they've been clamoring for since the Attitude era, but definitely not in the way they wanted.

A flaw in your build up for Mania too, and that's assuming that Reigns can cut a competent promo about anything. Reigns could one day be great, but he's not remotely ready for the big time and it's going to show, assuming that the backlash from last night doesn't completely derail him.

The Time article covered the IWC's reaction, though. Unless there's a second article I somehow overlooked (.3 seconds spent on google), I mean.

Reigns can cut a promo, but Vince has his hand jammed up his ass and has him talking about cartoons and fairy tales. He should be being booked as a quiet tough guy (because that's what he was in the Shield, and that worked for him pretty well). I'm not saying it's a perfect show, but the reaction is pants-on-head retarded. "We want more young guys coming up. Except we want to boo the Ascension, too, because New Age Outlaws were cool when I was a teenager."

It still reeks of "you booked the wrong guy as the unstoppable fighter." People were going to cry if DB didn't win regardless of who did win, and in that case it becomes "Book what I want or I'll stop paying you." Which really is fine, as it's anyone's right as a consumer to express an opinion on the product they buy, but they can get fucked if they think this means anything more than "I disagree with their vision."

Would this be happening if the Rock entered and won? Probably not, because the fans are stupid and would cheer Part Timer vs Part Timer headlining Wrestlemania with zero fucks given about who would be at RAW the next night.

I thought, going into the Rumble PPV, that Cena would pin Rollins forthe title. Lesnar would be pissed that he lost the belt without getting pinned and just destroy Cena. Rollins would cash in MitB and pin Cena for the title. DB would then win the Rumble. Rollins is the biggest heel they have going right now(Lesnar is more of a tweener imo) and DB is the guy everyone loves. That's what the Wrestlemania main event should be, right? Guess it was too optimistic.

Bray looked great. Him clearing the ring every 90 seconds made for good drama and both his mic'd promo and the line the camera caught were fantastic.

It still runs into the same problem of "who is a believable threat to Brock" though.

I did have my tinfoil prediction for the night, though: Heyman turns on Brock and joins Rollins after carefully lawyering Brock's rematch away without him knowing it. After all, Rollins would hold the title and the briefcase, making him practically a guaranteed champ for some time. Didn't happen, though, so enh.

I've always been high on Reigns, though. If he does win the belt, I imagine he won't hold it for too long. The bigger question I've got is this: If Cena and Rusev are feuding to Mania like people predicted eons ago, do they keep the US title on him? He can't lose prior to Cena but it doesn't seem right for a champ to fight at Mania and not defend the title. Do... do they put the US strap on Cena?
