Yeah, Reigns should have had to work his way up like all the previous IC and US champs in the past. He should have followed in the foots of Cody Rhodes, and Dolph Ziggler, and Antonio Cesaro, and Dolph Ziggler, and Wade Barrett, and Dolph Ziggler and just stuck it out in the midcard until his time to shine.

Had they not had Reigns randomly lose a singles match to Big Show right after RR a match with Rusev at WM would have also had the added benefit of both men being unbeaten in singles competition to further add to their story and giving Reigns the big win there to help start his build.

I'm not arguing the storyline logic, that makes a ton of sense. I'm just pointing out that midcard titles don't mean jack shit. The WHC used to be the "this guy might go somewhere eventually" flag that the IC title used to have, but they removed that. I mean, look at how far Kofi Kingston and Big E and Zack Ryder and... Actually, science!

My point is, there's not exactly a lot of upwards momentum coming from the midcard.

Sheamus will more likely be thrown in to the US title match. His last match was the loss I think.

Just watched some Shinsuke Nakamura videos. I gotta say I love the guy and think a match between him and Ambrose would be awesome. Plus, the Boma Ye is just a sick move.

Swagsuke is the man. I mean, the guy took a title that's barely 4 years old (IWGP IC title was introduced in 2011) and has effectively raised it to the same level as their main title. IC title match between him and Tanahashi headlined Wrestle Kingdom last year, which is crazy when you think about it.

Speaking of NJPW, ROH just announced they are adding a third date for their ROH vs. NJPW series in May in Philly. I already got my tix for the two shows in Toronto. I'm pumped.

WWE really needs to learn from NJPW on how to make their titles mean something. Lots of people give WWE crap for having to many titles but NJPW has even more but every single one of the things actually means something to people unlike WWE where it can be hard to even remember who the champion is at times.

WWE doesn't have to learn anything. They're still the biggest wrestling promotion by a mile, and even when they pull poor ratings like this week, they're still one of the highest drawing programs on cable. As has been said many times, the lack of competition is causing them to stagnate, and unless they experience a total collapse (which might be possible that if Brock's issue over pay is indicative of a larger issue coupled with potential bad press from this Diva stuff) no one is currently capable of removing their stranglehold on the industry in the US and most of the world.

Right but end of the day it's about the money. Especially for a company touting itself as sports entertainment where the actual wrestling is secondary. Until WWE sees a legitimate financial reason to change things, they have no motivation to do otherwise

So Steph was apparently furious about the AJ Lee tweet. Makes sense to me, her response reeked of PR control and seemed very curt even though she thanked AJ. Theres speculation that since firing AJ Lee would be a PR nightmare on top of everything else they might "slow bleed" her aka waste her on Television and hope she quits.
