    tldr:
J-Rob met Connor. Helped him meet all the stars.
They are actual friends because they talk and facetime weekly.
    Steph heavily interjects herself.
Connor passes. They change the whole story.
J-Rob has to shill the Connor foundation.
Gets depressed his friend has become nothing more than a promo.

    Spoiler: show

So WWE issued a response to this, and ...holy shit, is it the most tone-deaf statement I've ever seen.

“It is offensive to suggest that WWE and its executives had anything but altruistic intentions in honoring Connor and his legacy with The Warrior Award. In conjunction with Connor’s father, Connor’s Cure was established by Stephanie McMahon and Paul Levesque to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer, and to honor a boy that so many people within the WWE family came to love. The fund is managed by the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation and has already raised more than $200,000 for pediatric cancer research.

In addition, following the Ultimate Warrior’s impassioned Hall of Fame speech last year encouraging WWE to recognize its unsung heroes, the Warrior Award was established in his memory to honor those who exhibit unwavering strength and perseverance, and who live life with the courage and compassion that embodies the indomitable spirit of the Ultimate Warrior. With the full support and input of Ultimate Warrior’s widow, Dana Warrior, Connor Michalek was the first recipient of the Warrior Award, and moving forward the award will be given annually to acknowledge other unsung heroes among WWE’s employees and fans.

WWE is proud to use our global platforms to raise awareness for important social causes, including Connor’s Cure as well as our longstanding partnership with Make A Wish, our on-going partnership with Susan G. Komen, which has resulted in more than $1.5 million in funds raised, and our international partnership with Special Olympics.”
It confirms pretty much everything Roberts said about them distorting the truth to fit the "philanthropic" marketing. I mean, Jesus, when you get accused of changing the facts about Warrior's speech last year and his intentions and attempting to make everything a PR stunt, what is the best response? YES LETS CONTINUE TO LIE ABOUT WARRIOR'S SPEECH AND THEN MENTION EVERY CHARITY WE WORK WITH AND HOW WE ARE THE BEST.

    Jesus f'ing Christ.

Changing Warrior's speech to give themselves free good will is decidedly scummy, but let's not pretend that WWE does do a shit ton of good. Even if it's effectively just another form of marketing, it's still doing good out there.

So, I'm watching Impact in full for the first time since it went off the air last year now that it airs in Canada thanks to the Fight Network. I've only been skimming through the shows online the last couple months to get the results so didn't really notice things like set and camera work. But now that I'm actually paying attention, TNA really does come off as bush league lol. They don't even have a hard camera, so indy of them. The wrestling is still good but you can really tell how much they are hurting financially.

And bad on WWE exploiting Connor for PR. Good with the bad I guess.

Bolded statement I agree on. WWE can do tons of good and all, but it's annoying how they always gotta make sure everyone knows how great they are.

I too think the wrestling in TNA is good, but they (the company) really fail with the other aspects. It's as if they either aren't trying or they just have the wrong people running things. Watching older NWA videos look cheap and what not too, but it was still a great watch. TNA just isn't a good product.

TNA is honestly pretty solid these days, certainly better then most main roster WWE stuff. The production quality has noticeably suffered since the move to the new channel, but otherwise they've upped their game in most every aspect.

Also after seeing this, Charles Robinson is one of the people Warrior had in mind for the Hall of Fame.

Rewatching the WM31 main event. So glorious watching Lesnar beat up Reigns.

    Fuck that's glorious.

Catching the small glimpse of it there, God the one Lesnar did to Slater onto the barricade is so brutal.

TNA is pretty solid. Their creative is what truly sucks. I'm still waiting for them to tell us who were the ninjas that kidnapped Samoa Joe.

Don't think this was mentioned here, but last week WWE changed the belts needed to become a Grand Slam Champion, removing the European title and making it WWE Champ/IC/US/Tag Team titles. New format has resulted in Edge, The Miz, and Bryan being considered Grand Slam Champions.

And I find it kind of funny Miz is a Grand Slam champ but Cena is not.

I'm sure they'll find someway to slap the IC title on him at some point, just for the fuck of it.
