not sure about their return policy, since I default to Target (who has a great one), but the only thing I use retailers for when it comes to electronics is when I order something online, I buy the identical product at Target (would try Best Buy if it's something Target doesn't have), then I use it until it comes in the mail from online. Then I go return the expensive retail shit I bought with the no questions asked return policy and get a full refund.
Though I buy online to avoid stepping foot into Target/Walmart, even with electronics checkout for everything.
Just saying...every time I've ordered online, I wind up having to pay taxes, atleast in canada, AND theres a delivery fee.

The only thing I use retail stores for anymore is for in store pickup to save on shipping charges. This will still make me sad though since Best Buy is literally 2 blocks from my house and I actually went there like 4 times in 2011 and have been once already in 2012.
Fry's isn't that bad. They have a greater selection and decent prices. The stores are decorated in various cool themes depending on location, but I do agree with the earlier statement about working there. On my second day of work I worked 14 hours and only had one 30 min break (and I was going to school @.@). I was sent to a one hour meeting that had nothing to do with my department. Other employees were mostly douchebags and were only looking out for themselves. Also caught some strong flu that took me out for a week. Never went back to work.
Used to work right next to a Fry's, have never seen a more miserable group of employees in my whole life. Talked to a couple of them from time to time who had nothing but bad things to say about working there.
Regarding Best Buy this is a smart move by them at the end of the day, although my understanding is some of the people let go were definitely cost-cutting terminations which could hurt them from an operations perspective.
Finally related to sales tax on eCommerce purchases - it's a state-by-state issue and in general it only depends on whether the online retailer has a physical presence in the state (i.e a product distribution center). There is no federal "eCommerce tax" law and one doesn't look likely anytime soon.
Fry's may treat their employees like shit but I'm a customer, what the fuck do I care? They've got some good cheap stuff.
last i checked amazon does not have free shipping on everything. shit prime aint even free.
It is if you sign up with a student email address (either your own or someone else's who doesn't shop amazon, used my own year, and on my second year now with someone else's .edu email, hopefully transferring schools next year, that would give me another new email address)
I use Best Buy for the occasional impulse buy, but largely I buy online (or really, don't buy, I don't purchase a lot of electronics). I will never step into an HHGreggs again, they are the most annoying employees on earth. (And I'm talking every location). I couldn't browse, employees would not leave my wife and I alone, so although we were there to buy a washer and dryer, we bought it elsewhere.
This probably makes me sound like a terribly selfish person, but I really hope my town's Best Buy closes. When Circuit City went under and the local store closed, me and some friends got a ton of sick deals there.
