When you have a large mass of people thrown together in one spot, are the loudest people ever saying educated things that are targeted where they should be?

It's the fatal flaw of any large protest/rally. In order to make an impact, you need numbers more than you need people with education and individual foresight.

Isn't every protest like that? A select few of the most ignorant and foolish start yelling shit out and it ruins the original vibe of the event. You'll even hear it in the Million Man Marches, and those are completely peaceful. Protests today are only a half-step above the pitchfork-and-torch mobs of the past. People are still people. Why would it change? We haven't evolved at all; only technology has changed.

Hey, it's a great idea to teach the role of the bible in Western history and culture: how it was imposed on Europe with sword in hand, how it single-handedly held back human knowledge for centuries and contributed to destroy treasures of classical literature, how it installed a most powerful mafia in Rome and gave it impunity, how "deus vult" once excused any crapulous behaviour and still shields paedophiles in this day and age...

But they probably mean the revisionist version in which teh bible saved us all from dirty sand niggers that were obviously poised to invade.

To many Mexican-Americans, Arizona may seem like a benighted place. First, there was that immigration law that critics said would encourage profiling. Then, a Mexican-American studies program at the Tucson Unified School District came under attack from some Arizona officials and was disbanded earlier this year.

Now, a state official who led the attack on the Tucson program appears to have a new target: the department of Mexican-American studies at the university and other such college-level programs in the state.

John Huppenthal, the superintendent of public instruction in the state and a member of the Arizona Board of Regents, told FOX News Latino last month that the university produced teachers who then taught in programs such as the Tucson school district, where, he said, the curriculum teaches students to hate Anglos. “I think that’s where this toxic thing starts from, the universities,” Huppenthal told Fox News Latino. "To me, the pervasive problem was the lack of balance going on in these classes."
