Why are people who clearly don't like clothes trying to critique fashion?

Do people really think none of this looks cool or are they afraid to admit they do because of the price?:

What a brand shows can be exaggerated but in real life you are not going to dress like that. Wearing one piece of vibrant clothing can look really cool on those who can pull it off.

For those who don't know prints, especially shirts with prints, is the big thing with designers this season. Its probably a result of the toned down, monotone clothing that has been in style for awhile now.

Golf pants and children's pajama tops? Eh, no thanks.

The jacket, coat, and the slacks all look fine; I doubt I would pay what they'd be asking for any of it, though.

Do you mean to imply that, by criticizing something, they "clearly don't like clothes"? Later on, you said so yourself that people won't necessarily buy every piece of these outfits and then wear it all at once; unfortunately, nothing in this set looks even remotely unique.

The first portrait you shared shows a man wearing what's virtually a silk tie from any department store around his neck, and a set of an old woman's 1970s-era living room curtains wrapped around his legs. Certainly, the coat looks handsome, but generic enough for no one to give a damn whether they've got one made by Prada or not.

As for the second, it's also fine looking, but once again, it's incredibly generic. As if we've never seen a black suit before. What's there to be excited about?

The last one is straight out of the 1950s, as print shirts like that have been available at every shop from Sears to Walgreens. Who the fuck would pay a premium for that besides an idiot?

This shit isn't "high fashion," it's a bunch of overpriced renditions of "been there, done that" everyman wear.

The only thing that's even slightly original in the opening post is Lightning's hideously disgusting outfit, which is essentially a gigantic silk handkerchief with buttons. A fitting piece of crap for a crap character, I suppose.

Sure I like shopping for clothes, I am a girl after all. But that doesn't mean I can't have an opinion differing from fashion designers. It's butt-ugly and I sure couldn't take anyone seriously who would wear something like that. It looks like fancy Kramer-wear. I also hate most of the current trends right now when I try to buy clothes. God most of the stores look like they went into their grandparent's closet of shitty clothes that even they were embarassed by and are slapping price tags on it.

Well of course there's nothing wrong with them. That's why almost everyone owns a pair almost exactly like them.

And the shirt should be burned.

"Waugh! They took my video game characters out of their over-designed game outfits, which I accepted carte blanche, and put them in over-designed real clothes, which I find deplorable and ugly! Waugh!"

Go to DA and commission a drawing of Hope wearing a hoodie and track pants if you feel so violated by a little culture. Like music, or food, just because something isn't your taste, doesn't make it not quality. This is a pretty clever tie-in. I'd never wear that shit either (V-neck Polo? The future really is grim, huh Noel), but that doesn't make it ugly.

I can't say I really have a problem with any of the outfits. I surely wouldn't pay for them, and even if they were given to me I probably wouldn't wear them, but I can appreciate the design. I think its pretty awesome to work well-made game models into some form of a fashion display. I think Sazh would make an awesome model lol.

I think the greatest atrocity here are the fits on Hope/Noel.

Could have been way worse, we might have seen Noel with stubble, waders, or boat shoes.

I'm sure our lack of surprise isn't taken too harshly, but hey, better designer boat shoes than designer flip flops.

Exactly. Clothing bearing a 'good design' that no one would actually wear is missing the entire fucking point of clothing. D:
I don't mind that FF is expanding its horizons though.

Except people would wear this shit, the problem everyone has in this thread is that it doesn't appeal to their sense of fashion which is fine, but I like a lot of that stuff and I'm sure Vuitton does too.

And like in music, someone honestly voicing their opinion of the finished product should be encouraged, not met with a hissy fit.
    This shit be ugly.

    lol@"culture".

And please, can you refrain from using french words you don't understand in order to sound more refined? Shit be ridiculous.

If you are a Fanboy who didn't ask "why does everyone have a fucking scarf around their waist?" you most certainly gave SE free license to take whatever liberties they wanted with redesigning said characters. People aren't saying "I disagree with X choice, Y would have been better suited, here's why this isn't a good idea or choice for the character" - they are saying "fashion sucks, care enough about this to trash it but not enough to formulate an opinion, everything is ugly".

As for your... statement, fragment? I guess it holds true. Fashion is a bastion of theme, production value, image; things that people who play video games should be familiar with, but I guess, it is easier to laugh at something than to learn to appreciate it.
