XD. Never played XIII/XIII-2, I don't even know the characters. Those clothes are ugly, that's all.

Because video-game character outfits are designed not to be able to easily and uniquely identify a character, but entirely with the purpose of how good it would look if a real person wore it, exactly the same as the purpose of real-life fashion. Clearly. This is an airtight argument.

Still better than the original designs.
Gonna jump on the Sazh is the only person wearing an outfit that looks good based on my limited taste in fashion.
Lightning's outfit isn't that bad either. The rest are eh... guess I'm not "cultured" enough to see the sophistication.
Not understanding why ever dude has to wear an Android 17 scarf around their neck, but whatever.
Android 17 rocked that scarf better than anyone else though.
I personally don't know who any of the characters are besides Lightning, and I know she's a fucking piece of garbage because she was deliberately designed as a Goddamn female Cloud, but I don't expect SE to crank out anything original (and buckle-free) nowadays, anyway. There's certainly such a thing as a SE fanboy, and I'm about as far from it as you can possibly imagine.
These clothes are either shit or completely unimpressive, though. The parts that look decent are things you could've bought at a Goddamn department store forty years ago. That black motherfucker? He looks handsome in that suit, but he sure as shit doesn't need to pay upwards of a few thousand dollars for something like it. That's the problem. Who the fuck wants to pay what I'd assume is hundreds—or, in the case of the suits, surely thousands—of dollars for that shit? Garbage. I believe in buying something of reasonable quality (e.g., double-stitching on the seams, and so on), not something that's a fucking straight-faced rip-off.
I too can see how respectable some of the pieces are, but "high fashion" my ass.
Why not do this on FF characters that didn't suck?
These all look pimp as fuck. I would love to see how all the 'fashion haters' in here actually dress themselves. I think it would explain a lot.
Spoiler: show
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, blah blah blah etc.
If you like it that's fine. I don't. And I sure as heck don't dress like a Final Fantasy character in real life and a lot of their outfit designs look funky to me too. A differing opinion on one fashion designer (though I pretty much feel the same about most of what I see from the "high" fashion world) doesn't make me uncultured. It was a pretty neat idea though to pair it up like they did.
As for what I wear - sorry no camera to show you my wardrobe and I'm not really big on tons of pics of myself. For class I wear nice brown/black pants with a nice top of some kind and for casual wear just jeans/shorts and a cute shirt. If I wanna look nice I have a few nicer dresses/shirts.
There's a big difference between having an actual opinion/preference regarding fashion and simply not caring about what you wear or look like. The latter seems to be a lot more prevalent in the demographic of forums like these. That's the point you missed.
Not to mention there would be a lot less hating if the exorbitantly expensive brand name was omitted.
A little bit of confidence goes a long ways when it comes to rocking unique clothing. However, confidence is a rare commodity when you're talking to people who spend a lot of their free time playing video games in a dark room. Thus, nerds generally despise clothing they don't have the confidence for, or "fashion" as a whole.
