The setup into Avengers/maybe cap 3 got old. "Hey guys, remember when the bad guy dropped THIS back in x movie? Well guess whattttt!"

Also, BWs "past" coming up constantly like its a point to worry about. Her past is bought up many, many, many times for what? Are we finally going to go into details, or just allude to it in every movie since apparently we need the crutch to revolve a scene or exchange around. The worst part is she even goes over why they'll never arrest her or otherwise get rid of her, and it makes it even funnier lol. Hopefully that scene put it to rest, but I definitely did a big eye roll when it was used again to move some scenes along like it was even relevant at this point.

It's nit picking so don't mind me, just some conveniences get boring after awhile. Knowing how important the gems are, I understand where it's all going, but if I didn't? I'd be wondering why we keep falling back into the same scenarios each movie lol.

Which one? The scenes about bw and her past? There's a few in every movie she's in (sans maybe IM2).

Or the ending scene one, where once again a bad guy from another movie dropped their pew stick and a earth scientist finds it and uses it to power their research. Not saying it isn't coherent or anything, just saying its old.

Guess I'll use the Cap thread instead of making a new one:

    Spoiler: show
Concerning the Infinity Gems, I'm reading that fans are currently going for Loki staff's stone = mind, Thor 2 Aether = reality, and Tesseract = space.

I can agree with the first two - which would also explain why the Aether couldnt not be destroyed - but isn't the Tesseract a different kind or artifact? Besides, it's blue (like the mind gem) and shaped like a cube.

The current theory is that they will be used to explain mutants, miracles, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Kevin Feige explains some of the Easter Eggs
    Spoiler: show
Captain America: The Winter Soldier kicked box office ass over the weekend, and I'm sure most of you have seen it by now. This is my favorite Marvel movie so far, and it had a few easter eggs in it that you probably noticed. In a recent interview with Crave Online, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige discussed an easter egg involving Doctor Strange. It's no secret that Marvel is developing a Doctor Strange film, and the character was introduced into the Marvel cinematic universe in The Winter Soldier.

When Captain America and Black Widow are interrogating Agent Jasper Sitwell, Sitwell mentions a list of potential future threats to Hydra. On that list is "Stephen Strange," which is the name of the sorcerer supreme. When asked about the inclusion of the character's name, Feige replied,

Well, 'we' know what it means and where we want to head with it, but we were comfortable with keeping it in there and leaving it in there because there are a few different ways to interpret it. The whole thing, what Sitwell’s saying is, this algorithm is going to predict if you’re going to become a problem for Hydra or not. So you don’t have to just be Tony Stark, actively plotting to save the world. You could be a kid whose SAT scores and whose essays have indicated that you’re going to be a problem one day. So is Stephen Strange the Sorcerer Supreme? Probably not at that point. Is he an unbelievably talented neurosurgeon who’s opinionated and kind of arrogant? Probably. That might put him on the list.
Feige went on to talk about Hawkeye and why he wasn't included in The Winter Soldier. He explains that all will be answered in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

We will discover, later, the answers to that question. But it really came down to how many players can you have on the field at this time? We really wanted to bring in Falcon, we really wanted to team [Captain America] up with Black Widow, we really wanted Fury to have more of a part than he’s ever had in any of the other movies before. We wanted, ever so briefly, to introduce Sharon Carter. And we had a fun place for Maria Hill to be involved. So we didn’t want to just have, “Hey, I’m Hawkeye! Hey, I’m Iron Man!” We want to avoid the brief cameos of the week....Not every character from every movie is going to be in Age of Ultron, for sure. But Joss [Whedon] is excited and, for the characters you haven’t seen since the first Avengers – like Hawkeye, like Hulk – there’s a reason for that, and that gets showcased quite prominently in Age of Ultron.
He went on to talk about how the idea of S.H.I.E.L.D. being Hydra came about:

I’ve been thinking since the first Captain America film that if the SSR was a… you know, the SSR was the organization that Captain was a part of in the first movie, and had the super soldier program. That was basically our version of the precursor to SHIELD, which in real life there was… I forget what it was called now, but there was a division that was a precursor to the CIA in real life, and in real life there was Operation Paperclip, which Widow mentions. They worked with Nazi scientists and Nazi equipment, and that’s part of where NASA came from.

"I had this thought for a long time that the SSR defeated Hydra, brought in their scientists, brought in their weaponry, that’s what SHIELD was founded on. But what if there was more to that than meets the eye? In Avengers, Captain America finds a Hydra helmet, Hydra weapons, and realizes that SHIELD has this whole plan Nick Fury was even aware of, of taking Hydra weapons and building them again. So I thought, what if SHIELD was Hyrda?
Finally, Feige was asked, "Are we to believe that maybe that’s another one of the Infinity Stones, or is that just pure speculation at this point?"

Well, it’s certainly pure speculation at this point. I’m not even sure if we even recognize Loki’s scepter [as an Infinity Stone], but that’s a big hint as to what will be causing them trouble in the next movie.

My view (until proven wrong) is that the Tesseract is different from the gems. If Thanos just wanted it because it's one of the gems, why would risk another gem (assuming the staff is one of them) to acquire it? The Tesseract was his first goal, but now that it's out of reach, he's shifted his attention to the gems and gauntlet.

It's probably in one of the Marvel threads or even this one already, but in case not ... apparently Kevin Feige has a map on the wall of his office mapping out the next 15 years of movies. Wow, that's planning.

Sif stated in Thor TDW that the Tesseract was one of the infinity stones. It's likely the space stone, while the Aether is the power stone, the Staff is questionable right now (In the Avengers Selvig said that the Tesseract can't protect against itself, a reference to them using the staff to disable it).

To be fair, the Asgardians say that they don't want to keep the infinity gems together, so it could be possible they let SHIELD keep the staff after the Battle of New York.

Something I've been wondering about, regarding the major plot point in the film

Has the SHIELD = HYDRA plot been used before in the comics or is it an entirely new idea?

    From Comicvine:

    Spoiler: show

    Baron von Strucker (http://www.comicvine.com/baron-von-strucker/4005-4662/)
In the years following World War II Strucker truly showed his greatest strategic genius. As the United States created espionage unit SHIELD (much in part to the growing number of superhumans), Strucker managed to make several HYDRA agents seem like genuine heroes by starting conflicts that they would solve. HYDRA took large portions of SHIELD as their own, and the entire organization was corrupted. No one knew this though, and thus HYDRA had access to information and influence with the US and British governments not knowing how to stop it.
