I'm all for this law. The only child molester I've had the misfortune to know was compelled by whatever sickness to do it throughout his life, from 8th grade when he tried to kidnap me (dude was 8 years older than me in gradeschool) through his 30's when he was finally arrested for it after getting a job as a fucking high school track coach. It's a compulsion that doesn't go away, and an online community is the perfect place for them to hide out and do whateverthefuck because of the internet's innate anonymity. I'd even go a step further and create a law that monitors their internet usage remotely, with detailed info such as websites visited, usernames created, etc...

Those fucking sick-minded predators deserve to be treated like fucking predators... they don't deserve and in many cases cannot responsibly handle the freedom an average person has. If I read it correctly, Qal made the best point about why its worse with his cake metaphor lol. Basically, molesting an adult just fucks up that part of their life, and while it is absolutely fucking horrible, it's much easier to handle for them. Molesting a child is going to fuck them up mentally before their brain finishes developing, and in many cases (obviously not all cases though) will cause them to become child molesters later in life.

I would probably think kids are the absolute worst people to fuck with, stealing innocence and what not. I can also understand it being worse to get helpless people such as mentally challenged and elderly , but this isn't exactly something I've sat down and put a lot of thought into.

Not every kid deals with it in the same way, either... some people put it in their past and lead normal lives, others turn to drugs, alcohol, criminal activity... and others become child molesters. Either way, it creates a permanent stain on a person's life that they have to deal with forever. I mean, granted, if some fucking fratdude rapes a college girl, she's going to be fucked up forever... but she's not going to become a rapist... she's going to become a stripper (just kidding... kind of). Her development as a human being was more or less complete. If you throw a kid that far off the rails though, they maybe don't make it back all the way.

This is the true difference between molestation of children and adults. Being defenseless really doesn't make it much worse. The psychological effects it will tend to be worse for children than adults, which is why it is worse.
