so let's say for completion sake, I want to watch all the gundam series even if some are terribad, what order should I watch it in?

chronological according to the dates the series' take place? order in which they were released?


I'm pretty sure I only watched gundam 00 so far

There are a ton of alternate universes and some of the random series were really just designed to sell new toys and weren't good at all, but if you wanted to start at the beginning I'd watch through the UC timeline. It starts with Mobile Suit Gundam, then continues into Zeta Gundam, ZZ (double Zeta), and the Char's Counterattack movie.

Gundam 0080: War in the pocket, Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, and The 08th MS Team are all OVAs/mini-series which take place concurrent to other events in the UC timeline. Gundam Unicorn takes place 3 years after Char's Counterattack.

Gundam F-91 (movie) and Victory Gundam take place much later, but still in the same UC timeline.

That's just the main timeline. Most other series take place in their own, independent universe and don't connect with each other. Notable good ones are G Gundam, Gundam Wing + Endless Waltz, Gundam SEED + SEED Destiny (This is a polarizing one, people either love it or hate it. I like it since it contains a lot of funny references to the original MS Gundam series), and Gundam 00.

Gundam X was just sorta weird as I recall, and I've never seen Turn-A or AGE. I've never gotten over how ridiculous all the SD Gundams look so I've never seen any of those series either but they seemed more geared for young kids.

my roommate has crunchyroll TV on his ROKU box and it has most of the gundam series on it

No problem, man. Fair warning though, the vast majority of those series came out in the 80's and early 90's so the animation isn't so hot. The English dubbing is also pretty terribad as I recall. I really hated Amuro Ray for so long after only watching the original series with English dubs. The novelization made him a much better character (mostly because he died and Char became the hero), but he's a lot more tolerable in Z/ZZ/CC.

Since you're using Crunchyroll, any idea if it's possible to watch anime on there that has English dubs in the original JP? I borrow a friend's account on occasion and they keep replacing their subtitled shows with the dubbed versions and I dislike having to listen to teevee in general (hell, I put English subtitles on in Netflix so I can just read dialogue rather than trying to figure out what thick-accented characters are saying).

But yea, since there are some references to it in Zeta(mostly the effects of 0083 and how it lead to the Titans forming), you can watch the 8th MS team/0080/0083 before watching Zeta imo. The UC series overall is pretty awesome(first half of ZZ is pretty garbage but the 2nd half is actually good. Skip the Moon-Moon shit), but if you just want something short to watch to start you off Howie Gundam 00 Season 1 is really good and recent.

If it wasn't for Mwu I'd probably say to skip Gundam Seed completely but he's a real bro.

There are alot of gundam manga. Some of it is retelling, majority is sidestories. The best thing about SEED ever happening probably is all the awesome manga sidestories for it like Astray which are legit good. There's one for Gundam X too that was quite good.
