This sounds like item number 3 on the gay agenda: make criticizing gays impossible by accusing anyone who says anything bad about gays of being gay themselves.
@kuya: yeah, we're doing pretty well. although I can't wait for item #7: prevalence of hot straight guys "just trying it out" reaches critical mass.
I would prefer we just skip to item 12: eliminate all straight men.
Honestly unsure if troll thread.
Milkster do you actually believe this shit (let alone before the paper is even published) or is this just one of those big headline attention grabber deals meant to catch people who don't know how peer review works and no productive discussion is expected?
Ok, good. Glad we established that the critical thinking is the retarded part, not the non-thinking.
America fuck yea.
Believe that many homophobes are just working through and lashing out at openly gay individuals because of their internalized homosexuality? Yes, I've actually dealt with it personally.
It still isn't completely accepted by many families, communities and cultures.
Just like there are some individuals who are certain individuals of certain characteristics wish they weren't of a certain race, sexuality, gender, nationality, differently abledness because they've been taught throughout the years that they're a lesser person for that certain characteristic they possess.
No I mean do you actually believe that such situations are generalizable to a large population or that this study has somehow provided empirical evidence of such a phenomenon when it has not even been published and reviewed yet?
Science don't work that way, dog. As it stands right now, this very second, this study has even less merit than studies "empirically proving" that gay parents turn their kids gay and cause them to drop out of school and do drugs. How do you have less than 0 merit? By not being published/reviewed yet.
I get that you want this conclusion to be true, but don't claim that you have any sort of "science" or "empirical data" to back anything up at this stage because that would make you wrong.
Okay, now upon further inspection your second quote says the article was just published this month. So, can we get a link to it?
I don't know. If, for example, societal pressure says that hispanics are garbage and don't and won't amount to shit, I know quite a few people who would be motivated by this rather than drown in their sorrows. Being told you won't amount to anything and you are garbage would be a huge motivation factor for me to prove someone wrong, but maybe that's just me.

http://psycnet.apa.org/journals/psp/102/4/815/When individuals grow up with autonomy-thwarting parents, they may be prevented from exploring internally endorsed values and identities and as a result shut out aspects of the self perceived to be unacceptable. Given the stigmatization of homosexuality, individuals perceiving low autonomy support from parents may be especially motivated to conceal same-sex sexual attraction, leading to defensive processes such as reaction formation. Four studies tested a model wherein perceived parental autonomy support is associated with lower discrepancies between self-reported sexual orientation and implicit sexual orientation (assessed with a reaction time task). These indices interacted to predict anti-gay responding indicative of reaction formation. Studies 2–4 showed that an implicit/explicit discrepancy was particularly pronounced in participants who experienced their fathers as both low in autonomy support and homophobic, though results were inconsistent for mothers. Findings of Study 3 suggested contingent self-esteem as a link between parenting styles and discrepancies in sexual orientation measures. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved)
This is America. Accepting/rejecting a news headline outright is fine, but actually reading through it and thinking about the article's content is a no no. Mazmaz clearly hates America and is probably a terrorist.
