You're right, cause Keith got 5 games for a concussion delivering elbow, Rene Borque got 5 games for a concussion delivering elbow, so if Shanahan makes a 3 game decision for a Rangers' elbow that appeared to deliver a concussion (with Alfreddson not returning to the game when the point of contact was the head), then hes clearly picking on the Rangers.

If anything, Asham and Adams get suspensions. A lot of people think Asham's hit wasn't match penalty worthy (just crosschecks him once across the chest and then punches him once when hes down but then gets up and leaves him alone) but I have a problem with where Asham punched him (back of the neck). Thats a life-threatening place to be punched, you can end someone's life doing that, and in the NHL alone, we've seen what happens someone's punched there (hi: Todd Bertuzzi). That was what I thought of when I first saw video of it.

Adams gets one but I have no problem with it. Props to Adams for defending Crosby, he did what he had to do. Just like I had no problem with Godard jumping off the bench and coming after Haley when he was about to assault Johnson, just gotta defend your team, especially as a 4th-liner.

You're such an idiot it's not even funny. Hagelin's elbow was incidental, delivered to a player in a stationary position from a relatively slow speed. Keith's hit was delivered near open ice, clipped at high speed iirc.

Also Keith got a suspension during the regular season. He missed 5 games. Warranted? Yes. This is a 7 game series in the playoffs, three games in 7 game series for a play that did not result in injury. You know the playoffs right? The thing the Pens are in the process of being completely embarrassed in?

If he was stationary, how is it incidental? It should've been all the easier to avoid going high with the hit. The high speed ones are the ones where the hitter can make a case for timing just being a .01 second off and that making a clean hit dirty.

As for stars not defending themself, Sid's got 6 fights in his career already and is 5-1 in them on hockeyfights.com. Marian Gaborik has a longer career, and only has two fights, of which hes won neither (1 loss, 1 draw).

3 for the Alfie hit is more than warranted. Asham should get at least a game or two because of the followup punch after the crosscheck. Not sure why Adams gets any, just roughing penalty in the game is plenty.

Everyone becomes such homers during the playoffs. If you all were real hockey fans, you'd be able to see past your prejudices and realize that if your man elbows the other team's star player in the head, he deserves a ban.

While I hate agreeing with Sep, Hagelin's elbow may not have been intentional, but it still smoked Alfredsson square in the head, and if incidental was reckless as shit. 3 games seems stiff given the other suspensions handed out in the playoffs but it fits better with the image the NHL is trying to foster with regard to actually giving a shit about the safety of the players.

Thank you!! People knock on me for having the homer blinders on, but even I said Asham deserved a suspension for the follow up punch, and this Rangers clown is coming in crying his team is losing secondary scoring for elbowing the other team's captain and 10-time all star in the head and removing him from the game.

I'm tired of people saying Crosby is a pussy, he openly said to the media, "Yeah I knocked his glove away, cause I hate all of them." And then he fought - and won. Hes fought 6 times in his career and he's still only 24. If anyone lacks fortitude, Malkin is the one who doesn't drop the gloves.

Reminded me a lot of the Domi hit on Niedermayer back in ~2000: completely unnecessary attempt to injure in an already-decided game.

I'm not conviced this was even a "fight". Looking at the video, it looks like Giroux was just tying Crosby up, he didn't expect any punches to be thrown. Crosby waited until the linesmen stepped in to get bold and throw punches.
