Everyone becomes such homers during the playoffs. If you all were real hockey fans, you'd be able to see past your prejudices and realize that if your man elbows the other team's star player in the head, he deserves a ban.

I don't think many Rangers fan disagree that Hagelin should have gotten a suspension. It's the inconsistency that's a problem. Why does Haeglin get 3 and Phillips none for the same hit on Callahan? Because one wasn't injured? That's stupid. Why does Weber's WWE move only result in a fine? There's just a huge cap in consistency, and that's the problem.

It was 'clean' in the sense that it was shoulder-on-body. It was still a charging(which was called) which made it not a clean hit.

You wanna talk about risking injury and their careers unnecessarily, Rick Nash vs Malkin in the preseason >_> Was Malkin's first career fight not counting his sneak attack mugging of Zetterberg with the nullified Instigator, and Nash is a mammoth beast. That said, Nash is also the only hope that team has for any success and it wasn't even wise for him to fight, especially preseason.

NHL needs to be way more consistent with these suspensions. This so called "crack-down" on headshots isn't stopping players. Larger suspensions need to be handed out.

Crosby is lucky the Flyers didn't goon it up even more, it could have been a lot worse.

Canucks cannot score, and that will be looked during the off-season. I doubt the core will change, so a coaching change is most likely to occur. Atleast 4-5 new players. *rage*

Yes, because there was no apparent injury on the play. Have you not being paying attention all season long when the Dept of Player Safety always talks about apparent injury on the play when assessing whether and how long suspensions should be?

Which, I hope we can all agree on, is dumb. If someone is as brittle as a 90 year olds hip, and they catch an elbow to the head, and they're concussed, the offending player gets 10 games. If that EXACT SAME HIT is done on someone whos not a fucking pussy, just rattles them for a bit, and they're good to go 15 minutes later...they get maybe 1 game, 4 if they're Matt Cooke?

The main case I could make for the outcome affecting punishment is that intent is hard to quantify, and punishing a legitimate accident exactly the same as a malicious attempt to injure just because you can't be 100% sure which it was is kind of rough. Results, however, can be easily quantified. The outcome won't change once it's happened, and you know what the outcome was for sure.

This isn't saying that I agree with it, I think the current system promotes embellishment. But this is the type of thing where you are never, ever going to make everyone satisfied. I think way to many armchair commissioners are pretending like Shanahan's job is easy.

Inconsistency. btw, the NHL last year or the year before said they view playoff games as 2 games in terms of suspensions but Hagelins is a 6 game regular season suspension. If injury factors into suspensions then anyone who even touches a player like Dipietro should be suspended for the entire season?

Adams wasn't protecting Crosby, Crosby was being a little prick like usual and the second Hartnell turned to actually face him, Adams jumped him from behind. Crosby isn't tough for pushing a dude's glove away, he is a spoiled little brat and Giroux didn't look like he had any intention of trying to fight Sidney, just get him off Timmonen and then Sidney punched him when the ref got in between them. Who the fuck would even try to claim that as a fight? Entire organization is classless, it's amazing that the only person able to control himself yesterday was Matt Cooke.

Honestly I'm fine with it because hopefully they will make it so Philly loses the next round after getting in so many fights but since Philly is sweeping them they will have plenty of rest time.
