Please let there be a goalie fight tonight.
Please let there be a goalie fight tonight.
I'm not a doctor but I would think it'd be very possible to a) do enough damage to someone's trachea/esophagus that they can't play hockey again b) could potentially rupture an artery in the neck with enough force c) potentially break someone's neck even with a hit to the front with enough force, by cross checking someone in the fucking neck with a hockey stick especially since he was still moving when he hit him.
Yes, it is. Its a cross-check. Its why its only a 2 minute penalty. The throat heals far better than a slash that hits an eye or a knuckle that hits the C2 vertebrae. It can heal, it can be treated. No one should be crippled permanently from hockey, but it falls in the same boat as Giroux getting his arm Adam Graves'ed. Just beat them the fuck up so they can't win round 2. Thats the goal at this point, isn't it?
"If I can't beat you, I'm taking you down with me."
And if the players are too sissified to go that route, maybe thats part of the problem. I think I have more collective muscle than Richard Park, Tyler Kennedy, Paul Martin, and Steve Sullivan combined and the rest of the team only has more muscle than me because they're lifetime athletes, not cause they're tough.
if I remember, the mythbusters did an episode about getting killed on a motorcycle getting hit by a bug from the impact...I think they said it takes 76 pounds of force to the throat to be lethal.
"Doing some research, the Build Team discovered that the most vulnerable point on the human body was the throat; an impact with 76 pounds of force could cause the windpipe to swell and suffocate the victim. "
Wow you guys need a fucking physics lesson, a cross check is a bunting motion. Even if you really do it with a lot of rage, its still a bunting motion and there's limitations of force when you have two contact points on the stick and it only accelerates for the first 12 inches that it moves. To accomplish (B) or (C) you'd have to take a baseball swing, where there is only one contact point serving as a fulcrum and the far end of the stick making the contact is going 5-10 times the speed at which you can move your hands in a swinging motion (which is a lot faster than you can bunt; even when you're bunting really angrily).
You should never condone players intentionally trying to injure each other, though im sure this is just some massive troll by you.
CRAWFORD
It's ok though, because if he did crush his windpipe, the Penguins medical staff were there to help!
STOP TALKING ABOUT CROSS CHECK PHYSICS! Hawks / Yotes deserve some love. Kaner put that in!
STOP. TURNING. THE. PUCK. OVER.
Crawdaddy looks solid tonight. Hawks may not have had a shutout in the regular season, but game 3 playoffs maybe!
/jinx
It's sorta funny.
If it wasn't for them being in an official game and NHL players, if that shit happened to me or any other guy, charges would be pressed. And the courts would see that as aggravated assault with a weapon.
Still laughing people are trying to justify a cross check to the throat.
Bettmans in the mad house tonight, right?
PLEASE PLEASE LET THERE BE A BENCH CLEARING BRAWL!
I didn't realize physics trumped medical knowledge when dealing with possible injuries. It's not like my mom was a nurse and my uncle an ER surgeon, so I obviously never heard anything about a plethora of injuries and broken bones. You can easily generate enough force with a cross check to break someone's neck and it's really not hard to destroy a trachea or tear an artery, both of with can be fatal.
Go fig, exactly one year to the day that Torres concussed Seabrook...
Awwww, he caught a stick to the nose and they didn't call a penalty? Poor baby
