Apparently life is full of surprises. Pirates won, fireworks were not financially skimpy and were a decent show, and I got a free ENP cookie from Scratch and Win ticket. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

That being said, baseball is still boring as fuck. There were spans of 25-30 minutes where I had to force myself to cheer enthusiastically for our pitcher striking out their pitcher or a 7 or 8 spot hitter just for me to remain attentive. AND FUCK PICK OFF ATTEMPTS SERIOUSLY. I WANT THE INNNING TO END, NOT FOR YOU TO THROW TO FIRST FOUR TIMES. There should be a line a few feet from the bag and the runner can't lead beyond that and pick offs become removed from the game.

This was the first game where I felt like the Caps had control. Rangers pushed back at the end of the 1st and the beginning of the 2nd, but other than that they didn't have many quality chances. Great defensive zone play yesterday; winning faceoffs, blocking shots, active sticks. Anisimov's goal was good patience by him, very pretty goal. Laich caught a bad break trying to kick the puck out but that's going to happen in a long series. Gaborik's goal... yeah um, fuck Dennis Wideman. Schultz can't help that he's slow as all fuck, but Wideman is truly terrible out there. Nick Backstrom is a boss, period. Oh and lookie what happens with Mike Green on the first PP unit. Fully expect this will go seven, Monday is going to be crazy.

The slash on Boyle should have been a penalty. Everything else was borderline, pretty much par for the course for terrible officiating in the playoffs. Refs missed a few calls against the Caps too, I know Ward was held and Carlson caught a high stick, both in the 3rd, neither were called.

What's funny is Olczyk and McGuire were horrible at pointing out calls and non-calls. They were all over Chimera for a non-hold on Boyle but said nothing about Laich tripping Callahan on the PP. All I remember is them praising Laich for "effort" and "great stick work." I can only imagine your rage.

The one thing that made me rage against the rags fans yesterday was how they were attacking Ovechkin. At normal speed it looked like he hit him up high but slowed down it happened because neither him or Girardi were paying attention
