The Devils fans at that game last night make me angry. Like half of them have any right to cheer at a game like that? They couldn't give tickets away in the regular season but now they have 15,000 people acting like diehards? Fuck outta here

I mentioned that to someone last night. I was talking about how if they won the cup, they're probley increase ticket prices and that would make even less people show up.

Somehow I don't think they accounted for the Ducks/Kings/Rangers/Sabres Germany games.

Nick will be missed as a player more than anyone in a long time. Goddamn this is strange and sad.

Massive respect though, this is definitely the way to retire rather than going out as a 2nd or 3rd pairing defenseman. It's just too bad they couldn't get him one last cup to go out on.

Ken Holland now has the task to rebuild a defense that currently looks like this:

Kronwall/Ericsson
Quincey/White
Kindl/Smith

It's kinda crazy to think that Detroit has had two captains in pretty much my whole lifetime as a hockey fan since I was like 5, first ballad hall of famer for sure, Godspeed Lidstrom. Wonder who wears the C next year, gotta think Datsyuk though.

Sad to see Lidstrom go, one of the greatest of all time. Assuming this means Holmstrom is gone too, will be pretty interested to see what Holland does over the summer.

It definitely sucks. It's going to be interesting to see if Detroit can keep up their "win no matter what" label now. I know every year people predict the downfall of the Wings, and every year they're wrong. But this is different. They always had Nik. Now its truly the end of an era.

Reminds me a lot of when Dallas lost Boucher, Nordstrom, and Zubov in one offseason. We haven't been back to the playoffs since.

I would not be surprised to see Holland start moving some of the sacred cows off the roster. Guys like Holmstrom, Cleary, etc. And make way for the younger guys. I hate Detroit but Lidstrom was always one of the classiest acts in hockey. It sucks to see him finally hang them up.
