The guy has shown he can produce while playing against top lines and having scrub wingers. The only way Staal re-signs and takes a hometown discount is if he's promised a top six position. I think LA is good on centers with Kopitar/Richards/Stoll but I would be more than happy trading Staal to Dallas for Benn or Erikson, the Islanders for Moulson & a pick, Carolina for Skinner AND A PICK, for one of the Oilers young wingers, or Staal + a 2nd for Bobby Ryan.

Edit: Hall or Eberle would probably take a 1st + Staal.
