You didn’t think Crysis 2 was the end of the series, did you? As it turns out, neither did Electronic Arts, who seems to have accidentally leaked the box art and details of Crysis 3 through its own proprietary PC gaming platform, Origin.

The box art and listings (which seem to showcase a dude with a freaking compound bow) appeared sometime in the last 24 hours, but as expected, have been promptly removed from the site. Then again, as Joystiq cleverly pointed out, the all-seeing eye of Google spares no one.

Though the captured image only shows the game for Xbox 360 and PC, it’s likely a safe bet that the game will arrive on the PlayStation 3 as well.

Finally though, after a little prodding by the folks at Polygon, it would appear that EA is actually prepping up to talk about Crysis 3:

“The best kept secret in shooters just can’t be contained. Stay tuned for more information on April 16.”

As hinted at over the past week, Crytek and EA have finally announced the third chapter in the Crysis trilogy, Crysis 3. It’s locked for launch in the spring of 2013 for PC (via Origin), Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

Powered by the company’s ever-impressive proprietary tech, CryEngine 3, Crysis 3 grounds itself in jungle-covered New York City, with players exploring the game as prophet from the previous games. The city itself has been encased in a giant dome, and is overgrown with trees and wildlife – both good and bad.

There are seven main themes for you to explore in New York, known as the “Seven Wonders”. The first two are great, but I'm on the bow-hater bandwagon and Imma be unhappy if they make using it mandatory for entire levels (you know they will and they'll call it 1337 stealth and pat themselves on the back)...

Well the majority of people will only be using it as a benchmark test for their PCs, rather than to play it.

You're in a super suit. A bow designed to be used with strength like that would be crazy powerful compared to normal weapons, and it's silent to boot.

silenced/scoped automatic rifles have always accomplished that for me. Plus, they are so accurate they are like sniper rifles, which can also be silenced in these games. Unless they go silly with it and have Green Arrow style munitions for the arrows, I would never use it.

My best guess is that you get trapped in New York at the end of the second one. They said New York is stuck in a dome type object now and it's apparent in one of the pictures above.
