    I would consider those two things to be really similar. Part of a strategy is to eliminate as much of the fight's difficulty as possible so you can focus on damaging and if a large portion of the difficulty is getting hurt when you're close to the mob (Chimera) or missing combos because mobs are moving (Moogle)... well.

    I am pretty much just expecting an Eye of the Beholder-style ring-shaped AoE attack or environmental obstacle that hits only those far away from Garuda, or some sort of extreme enmity multiplier only on ranged/magic attacks.

    Lots of feathers. I'm thinking they'll be like Ifrit Nails, only they'll alter damage so you'll need a balanced PT. I still guessed 8hours 42 minutes. People will be spamming now that SE's thrown down a challenge.

    Or she'll have some wind ability that draws-in/knocks-back players.

    The fight will have a gimmick and imo it'll be figured out in less than 9h. If it goes longer than that, then it won't be killed for another 3-6h block window when the JPs can give it a good shot. I am assuming the patch will go live at the usual times ~8/9pm EST. If it's not figured out by 6-7am, it probably will take several more hours since people will need to sleep and go to work, etc.

    Gonna make a run for it though and it should be fun! Put in my prediction of 8h 18mins.

    Went and posted, against my best judgement browsed, and my hope in humanity is at an all time low again.

    Pretty big ranges. I'm personally thinking around 15 and a half hours before the defeat.

    If they invoke single target hate reset that would cause mad chaos in a BC fight and would destroy mass BLM tatics. Time to bring in the WARx6 train !

    Unless they nerf WAR in 1.22. And I'm quite positive they will considering how many WARs are popping up now.

    Since war is basically a straight upgrade to mrd and is pretty good I could see SE nerfing the hell out of it. I would love to be wrong tho would rather see other jobs like Pld buffed then War nerfed down to make it better by comparison. Then again maybe they should just make Jobs the default since no one really plays classes anymore cept for Thm when they need raise and ss.

    Made my guess @13hrs to garuda but I'm starting to think its gonna go down way eariler then that.

    I agree. They need to make classes irrelevant for party play - maybe even period.

    I'm planning on making another job's post on the OF soon. I just havent had the time to type it out.

    In the future when they raise the level cap, only have jobs increase in EXP. Leave the classes forever at 50 cap. There problem solved. Or just remove the classes and pretend they never happened.

    Umm... yes? That's the point. Why have some sort of contest and spout nonsense about how long its going to take to kill the new boss when your track record of providing "tough" bosses have all been cleared in a matter of hours. I mean, this is the same company that made PW (not that I'm encouraging them to do that again; just stating that they used to know a thing or two about difficulty).

    I would argue that monsters like PW and AV are proof the company never knew anything about difficulty. If anything, this contest only really makes sense because they've been cleared so quickly. If I pulled a stunt like this, it would be to throw these "quick" predictions back in the faces of those who underestimated the content.

    The problem isn't so much the contest, its them acting like "oh, THIS time, things'll be different~!!", as if they're touting some super-mega-awesome difficulty. If they were simply having a contest to see how fast people could beat up their new big bad, and it was assumed that the new big bad will be more new than either big or bad, it wouldn't be a problem. They're kinda crossing the streams here; they want people to guess on a measure of speed for something that's supposed to be hard to kill, but at the same time, they are absolutely terrible at designing bosses that are hard to kill.

    I mean, if they're expecting this to go like the others and the boss gets cleared in half a day, then so be it, but shit, they make it seem like its going to be weeks or MONTHS this time, and yeah... it'll be 3 hours, but like I said, hey, free gear is free gear. No worries.

    AV is shitsux in terms of difficulty but PW in its original form... that seemed like a truly tough fight that might not have been so bad after all if, and only if, what they said about there having been ways to weaken various forms and speed that shit up were true.
    I don't think we had enough experience with original PW to know whether this is true or not.


    PW was a hard motherfucker, I don't care what ANYONE says to the contrary.

    XI got pretty annoying with that over the past couple of years since they felt the need to add hate resets to everything. I didn't mind it when it was something uncommon, where a handful of NMs had some sorta hate reset but it is so very annoying when every other NM seems like it has some sorta hate reset move.

    Yeah. It's about the laziest possible way to try and force multiple tanks or add 'Stun or Die' mechanics, which also sucked.
