I would consider those two things to be really similar. Part of a strategy is to eliminate as much of the fight's difficulty as possible so you can focus on damaging and if a large portion of the difficulty is getting hurt when you're close to the mob (Chimera) or missing combos because mobs are moving (Moogle)... well.
I am pretty much just expecting an Eye of the Beholder-style ring-shaped AoE attack or environmental obstacle that hits only those far away from Garuda, or some sort of extreme enmity multiplier only on ranged/magic attacks.
