I was in uniform on my way home from work at 6am, no clue who he was. I've never had a cop apologize for stopping me before though lol.

What kind of uniform is this?
It was my Derek Jeter uniform.
I'm Derek Jeter.
Arrested for using the white man's urinal
Mr. Holden, a 28-year-old baker, said he noticed that a bald man at the urinal next to him — who he later learned was a plainclothes police officer — was looking at him. A privacy divider, as well as a duffel bag slung over Mr. Holden’s shoulder, separated them.
“While I’m using the bathroom, he stepped back and kind of looks at me and then walks off,” Mr. Holden recalled. As he left, two officers approached him, asking what he had just been doing. “I said: ‘Nothing. I was using the bathroom,’ ” Mr. Holden said. “They pulled me aside, asked for my ID and then put handcuffs on me.”
How dare black people have money, let's just take it and pepper spray them.
Mr. Joye said the officer took more than $1,000 in cash and deployed pepper spray.
In the video, others in the crowd begin protesting. “He just stole his money,” says a voice close to the phone’s microphone. “How you going to take his money?” someone else says.
Mr. Joye, who was not arrested that night, said he has not gotten his money back; his lawyer, Robert Marinelli, said he has received no explanation of where that money was.Mr. Marinelli said he has submitted pay and bank records to the district attorney showing his client, who works in construction, had earned a few thousand dollars in early September and had withdrawn a couple of thousand dollars, intending to celebrate his birthday with his wife.
“I believe that this officer made an assumption that any money Mr. Joye possessed was obtained illegally and therefore he would not report the theft,” Mr. Marinelli said. “This assumption was wrong. Mr. Joye is a hardworking taxpayer. An incident like this would never occur in a more affluent section of the city.”
I'm aware of the process. How do you vet an informant? You already hit it on the head, so keeping in line with that, this is the type of low level raid you prove informants worth on. Meth and guns might seem like this is a big deal, but only in a Hollywood setting. This was no RICO operation or a grow/buy distribution ring.
A confidential informant might have to be vetted, but you don't have to vet everyone who reports crime to the police. Who's to say he wasn't vetted already anyways? Besides, I already mentioned the deceased was under scrutiny before. What type of info did they have, but didn't have the evidence to execute?
Even so, this was pretty sloppy. If his car had a weapon, it's a safe assumption that he might have more. Why surprise him at night (cause that's never gone wrong before), when you can present a warrent just as fast to search premesis; at least that way you can predict and control the situation better.
Their reasons are right, but I don't agree on tactics.
No it's not. You don't prove a source's worth with a fucking raid lol. You have the source go in there and buy drugs and/or weapons to prove it for you before ever making any such move.
I'm not even sure what your second point is. You don't take anyone at face value when they report a crime. You investigate. Obviously we're just going by the article, but I also find it hard to believe this guy who admittedly robbed the house was possibly already a closed source. Back in my drug days, you kept your closed sources on a leash to not do stupid shit. If they fucked up than their value is compromised.
You guys might do things different in B-More. My view is the guy stole a car with drugs and guns together. Your buyback and drop are compromised at this point, and if the deceased made a complaint for the theft, I'd be banking on the complainant dumping and getting rid of everything to cover himself just in case any of it is recovered. That's just me though.
My second point is you don't focus on credibility immediately until you've exhausted all of the angles of the solvability. It's taken at face value when they report a crime, until you prove otherwise. The article speculates as to the credibility of the informant without any type of research or background to show he's not a reliable source, but how many people who you've vetted were not already felons or meth heads?
And that goes again to giving your sources some leeway on low level shit as long as the information keeps flowing. If you can't supply them to support themselves, then they need to do it somehow. RSP is a citation if they get caught. Nature of the beast, unfortunately.

Georgia police raided a retired Atlanta man's garden last Wednesday after a helicopter crew with the Governor's Task Force for Drug Suppression spotted suspicious-looking plants on the man's property. A heavily-armed K9 unit arrived and discovered that the plants were, in fact, okra bushes.
... i thought okra was huge in the south, how do they not recognize them
I love fried okra with fried plantains. Maybe they just wanted some for a cookout?
hahahaha wtf
You know, my dad was always terrified growing moulokhiya growing up. It's a plant that is basically only found in Egypt and Japan (idk how Japan). He was always worried cops would see it and think he was growing pot.
I thought he was being silly.
But now I am glad there are markets out here that sell it so I don't have to grow it. Who knows what cops will do if they saw an unknown plant.
As an aside, I just learned that there is a rumor going round that the plant may help people with Ebola. No proof but makes me wonder if the treatment the US is using contains it at all.
No.
Yup.
Also, I should start a good police news thread to balance this one out...

No to it helping or no to it being used in the treatment?
I dunno if yes to either, I do know it has been looked into:
