Terrible joke was terrible, shouldn't lead to any discipline though.

Brave cops in full body armor and automatic weapons courageously gun down a vicious 6 pound dog as it was walking away from them
Lol
I'm confused, I thought dogs were worth more than black people why are they treating the dog so poorly
hey man that thing was at least shin-height
shins are sensitive
the dog wasn't retreating it was advancing aggressively in another direction
we're on its left, we're on its right, we're in front of it, we're behind it. we can't get away from it this time!
That hurt to watch![]()
real talk i don't know what i would do if a swat team had done that to one of my dogs but it would probably be something really stupid
The video is incredibly misleading.
The dog got shot because it's owner threatened a neighbor's husband with a machete, and then threatened them with an armor piercing crossbow. They called the cops, which the swat team showed up. The crazy guy with the machete/crossbow threatened the swat team with said weapons and also threatened to sic the dog on the team. The dog got loose and heading towards the police. They didn't know the temperament of said dog and shot it when it approached.
TLDR; Crazy dog owner got his dog shot for being crazy.
I have no idea who walks a dog with a machete and a crossbow. Or maybe he went back home and came back with them. No clue.
it turned around though
edit: ah, hey beat me
No I saw the video. And for me, the amount of time in between turning and the shot was small enough where it is reasonable to assume that the police didn't know the dog was going to turn around. As in, the turn time for the dog was too small for the cops to register it wasn't going to attack.
It's still the dog owner's fault.
At least they didn't unload all of their mags into it.
And while I'm not defending or advocating anything in said video, I can't imagine feeling like whomever it was that opened fire on the dog right now. You know he's seen that video. Think I'd feel worse about killing a dog than a human.
If that's not hyperbole, that's an odd statement.
nah i get it. dogs are fairly innocent; they're mostly what their humans make of them, like children. and they function at that level, cognitively. i'd rank shooting a dog with shooting a child. not quite as bad, but in the same territory. at least with adult humans you can say "oh yeah that asshole was going to fucking murder my ass for some goddamn coke" or whatever. dogs and kids just do what they've been trained to.
It was a FUCKING ANKLE BITER. Kick that thing in the face and it will yelp away. Jesus fucking christ.
I still side with the officers on this one.
They didn't know what the dog would have done next. Dogs pick up on the feelings of their owners, and could have very well tried to protect its master. It could have charged, distracting them and giving the crazy man with an armor piercing crossbow a few seconds to fire off a bolt. The guy could have got a lucky shot and killed one of them.
