White rookie police officer in Arizona was gunned down responding to a domestic violence call. Shooter then killed himself. No clue what race the shooter is, though it really shouldn't matter. Two people dead, one of them didn't need to be. Also according to the police officer memorial fund website, 125 officers have died in the line of duty in 2014, though cnn when quoting it didn't have any sort of break down on the cause of deaths.
