The officer, Patrick Cherry, has issued a public apology. He's sorry for the incident, even though not everything he says lines up with the video, and asks the public not to have a negative view of the police force based off of his actions. It has been noted that he has numerous complaints against him for similar incidents in the past, this is just the first one that has had video evidence.

I think the crazy part is how quickly and nonchalantly he tried to plant evidence on the guy he just killed. Even with another officer right there.

Thankfully this is open and shut, a murder that is being treated as such with no illusions or ignorance. Guy's already in jail and without bond.

He had already lawyered up. Then the video came out. Lawyer dropped him immediately because he flat out lied about what happened.
